ASMRtist/AudioBook Narrator: Ryan's got a side-gig where he essentially reads bedtime stories to strangers. He does this the 'old fashioned way' of getting paid by services like Audible to narrate books, but he also does this via a YouTube channel - one that's doing well enough that he would consider dropping his day-job and going full-time if he could trust it to be a stable source of income forever (and if he wasn't so sure his parents would disapprove). He hides his face and identity online and doesn't tell many people about it because he thinks it's a teensy bit cringe, but he is secretly proud of the following he's amassed.

OVERALL APPEARANCE: Ryan is a pretty average guy, though he has a few conventionally attractive features such as his light blue eyes and blond curls. He has a pale complexion with freckles dusted across his face and shoulders, and at 5'10" he's around average height for a man, neither scrawny nor hugely built.
As you might expect from an AudioBook Narrator, Ryan has a pleasant voice. His natural tone is in the lower range, expressive and authoritative but friendly, and he has clear diction and articulation. Some may find it calming when he's talking quietly.
He tends to wear neutral colours: shades of brown and beige, grey, white, and black. He likes button-up shirts and sweater-vests for work, and t-shirts and hoodies for casual settings. Has a tan jacket that he tends to wear over his hoodies in colder weather.
In his cat form, Ryan is pretty average in terms of sizing and fur length. He has light ginger (almost blond) tabby fur and his eyes remain blue, which sets him apart from most orange cats.

Ryan would consider himself a thoroughly average guy - and he's objectively right.
Neither the life of the party nor a shrinking wallflower, he gets along with people well enough and doesn't tend to make a strong enough impression (positive or negative) to linger in someone's mind for long. He's a pushover, accustomed to being told what to do and not one to actively try to stand out from a crowd or cause unnecessary friction. But he's also self-serving, always looking for what he might get out of a situation or how he can be the most undisturbed by it.
He's a little dense. Not a Casanova type. And he can be incredibly lazy in some situations to the extent that he might be suspected of weaponizing incompetence (deliberately performing tasks poorly so that others feel the need to take over and do it for him) - which, in contradiction to that earlier claim, might imply he's smart.
At the same time he can come across as a bit of a workaholic and seems to have some genuine passion for his work, spending many extra hours at the Sector's headquarters even if it's really just to read up on all the interesting Gifted in the database or to go over 'cold cases'. He also manages to churn out regular content for his second job and could be said to always be doing something, even if it's not immediately obvious what it is.

HISTORY: Ryan had a mostly normal childhood, the only notable deviation being his sister Honey's sudden transformations into a wolf. Her lack of control over her gift eventually led to her being separated from her family and moved out to a residence on the outskirts of Los Eurosia's National Park, where she was home-schooled (and basically raised) by the Gifted Transition Officer who lived there. Ryan and his parents stayed in the city and he was told to hide the fact he had a sister at all, though they still visited her at weekends.
As his parents both work in the Sector, Ryan was sort of nudged into doing the same once he was finished with school; the government pays well enough and (more importantly) offers a good pension scheme. He wanted to be more involved in field work, tracking down gifted who risked revealing the big secret to the public, but he wasn't qualified enough and had to settle for office work instead. He's been there for years but his career hasn't progressed much.
Over time the visits to his sister grew less frequent, and Honey's unhappiness over this fact became glaringly apparent. She often told him how she missed his voice and the bedtime stories he used to read with her when they were young, to the point that one day he decided to send her a long voice note of himself doing exactly that. He mostly did it as a joke, but Honey was delighted and wouldn't stop asking him for more until he gave in.
It became somewhat of a routine, though Honey kept losing the recordings he would send to her (she's not great with technology and couldn't figure out how to save them). Her almost weekly pestering of him to resend them eventually made him decide to upload them to YouTube so she could find them all in one place just by following a link.
He didn't think much about it for a while, but then, somehow, random people started finding these videos and through some comments he learned what ASMR was. He made more recordings that were a little more intentionally made for that genre, and pretty soon his uploads were gaining enough traction to be monetised. He's even started narrating audiobooks more 'officially' for companies as well.
