It was a late night at the headquarters. Darius had been out that day to investigate a situation. In town, in one particular spot, it had started to rain and even thunder, but only in a radius of maybe twenty meters. A lot of people had been around, snapping pictures and videos of it, because it was such a unique weather phenomenon, but the people at the Sector had known better. This was most likely a gifted with atmokinesis. And a reckless one, too. Weather phenomena like that drew a lot of attention, and it had even been covered by the six o'clock news that evening.[BREAK][BREAK]

So Darius had been sent out to investigate who had done it. The man's powers came in very handy during situations such as this one. He had crouched down and had touched the wet ground, immediately seeing the clouds gather above him in his mind, as they broke and rained down on the spot. He had closed his eyes to focus on the snippet of history, and tried to look around to see who had made it happen. Sadly, it was too difficult, because a lot of people had been around at the time, and he couldn't see who of them had created the clouds.[break][break]

A little disappointed, Darius had returned to the office to write a rapport on the situation, noting people of interest in it, because while he wasn't sure who exactly had done it, some people had stood out to him. He had taken a dinner and coffee break, and got back at around 9PM. Most of the other Sector members had left, and it was just him in this part of the building now.[break][break]

Not even half an hour later, a sound made him look up from his computer. The room next door was filled with file cabinets and a central computer that held digital rapports and information. It was locked, and had personal accounts with passwords that were required to log in, but the file cabinets were less protected. It sounded as if someone was in there. Darius looked at the clock on the bottom of his computer screen and concluded that it was an odd hour for someone to be in there. He took a sip of his coffee and got up from his desk, ready to investigate. Had he not closed the door to the headquarters properly behind him when he had come back? Had someone been able to sneak in?[break][break]

Darius snuck closer to the room, and looked through the window in the door. In the darkness, he noticed a shadow. The man opened the door and flicked on the lights. The lamps protected and flickered, then stayed on and put the thief in the spotlight. "Can I help you?" he asked dryly, raising an eyebrow and leaning against the doorframe. He didn't know this person, so it was definitely an intruder.

Griffin had been prowling the nightlife again, lurking in the alleyway corners as the people of the night passed by. He was trying to be stealthy as he made his way to the Blackstorm hideout, but in reality he just looked edgy with his hood up; his hair covering his eye the slightest bit. He needed to be extra quick tonight; Levi had taken a full hour to drift off and he didn’t have much time left before he needed to report to his boss. [break][break]

Griffin finally stumbled upon the shop that held the hideout, and he darted inside, making sure to quietly shut the door on his way in. He flicked off his hoodie, the cashier welcoming him to the mart. But with a quick flash of the insignia on his sleeve, the cashier’s smile faded, and they beckoned him to the back of the store. [break][break]

His boss was waiting there for him, looking at his watch as Griffin stood to attention in front of him, like a soldier waiting to be deployed. His boss merely lowered his wrist, raising an eyebrow at Griffin’s display. “You don’t have to do that, you know. We’re not the fucking army.” Griffin nodded slightly, but didn’t break his stance. “I know, sir. This is just important to me.” His boss rolled his eyes, reaching into his pocket and pulling out his phone, beginning to text something to Griffin’s phone. [break][break]

“Alright, well, if that’s how you wanna do this, I’ve got a mission for you today,” his boss started. “I need you to infiltrate Sector HQ and get me these files.” Just then, Griffin felt his phone vibrate in his pocket, and he quickly flicked it out to see what message he had received. It was a picture of a file cabinet marked with the tag “People of Interest,” filled to the brim with files of a ton of dirt on people the Sector think is gifted. “Get as many as you can. We’re gonna see if we can recruit them before the sector can get their grubby hands on them first.” [break][break]

Griffin smirked, nodding and giving a one-finger salute. “Let’s go steal some shit.” As he walked out the door, he got another message from his boss with the Sector HQ’s address. He had heard about a weather anomaly over on the other side of town; the Sector was probably mostly cleared out of their HQ to take care of the problem. Lucky for Griffin, not so much for the Sector.[break][break]

As he expected, he arrived and it was practically a ghost town. As he stealthily snuck in and slinked around the hallways, he’d see a person from time to time, but they were almost always absorbed in their work. Griffin didn’t expect this job to be hard, but damn, he also didn’t expect it to be this easy.[break][break]

After he finally stumbled across the correct room, he carefully picked the lock and quietly re-shut the door, but as he was digging through the cabinets to find the correct files, he became slightly less careful. He wasn’t aware that his shuffling was audible until he heard footsteps. Fuck, he thought, his mind racing. With a swift motion, he used his Aerokinesis to blow the papers out of a nearby window and into his bag outside. With that taken care of, his mind raced again, trying to think of some kind of excuse to explain why he was in a secret file room, but nothing came to mind. As the steps came closer and closer, Griffin finally had an idea- but it was a really bad one. Well, fuck, what other choice did he have? Without another thought, he retreated into a remote corner of his brain, forcing Levi to take the front seat.

Levi blinked, rubbing his eyes groggily as if he had just woken up from a bad night’s rest. Except he wasn’t in his bed- he was in some random file room? Levi’s anxiety immediately spiked as soon as a shadowy figure opened the door in front of him and flicked on the lights, the overwhelming brightness making him wince. “Can I help you?” the man stated, an unamused expression on his face.[break][break]

Levi looked to the left, then to the right, still a little disoriented from strangely gaining consciousness in a place where he wasn’t supposed to be. He had no idea where he was, what he was wearing, what he had been doing before all of this… it made him more terrified than he’s ever been in his life. So all he did was quiver in place and stare at the man for a minute, hoping it would all go away.[break][break]

But it didn’t end up going away, and the man was still waiting for an answer, getting more impatient every second. Levi tried to swallow his fear as he failed to put together an answer. “I uh, um… sorry. I was just, uh…” Levi searched his brain to find an answer to his seemingly impossible question, only for the worst answer of them all to come out of his mouth. “I was sleepwalking?”

He had entered the room, and saw a man standing there. He looked oddly disoriented and confused. Darius examined the room, noticing the open file cabinets. Between the open cabinets and the open window, it wasn't difficult to figure out what had happened. This man was stealing files. He had sarcastically asked if he could help and waited for the other to respond.[BREAK][BREAK]

His brow furrowed at the odd speed the man spoke at. He genuinely seemed confused himself. Darius reached out to the man's mind, but was met with even more confusion. Conflicting thoughts and different voices, no coherent opinions. "I'm going to need those files back", he said, taking a few steps forward towards the man. He tried to reach out again, try to figure out who he was talking to. He heard two names. Griffin? Levi? It was confusing. It almost seemed like he was reading multiple thoughts at once.[break][break]

It was then that Darius made the connection. DID. This man was multiple people. He then asked a question which might not have been the best one, considering the fact that the other didn't know him: "Who's fronting right now?" If the intruder didn't realise that Darius could read minds, it would surely be creepy to him that Darius knew what was going on with his mental health.

As Levi’s eyes gradually adjusted to the light in the room, he was able to get a better look at his surroundings. He had known before that he was in some kind of room with files in it, but he wasn’t sure about where exactly he was. Just by a pure guess, he assumed he was in some kind of professional workplace. His eyes flicked towards the papers scattered throughout the room, trying to quickly scan them to see if he could find any clues. They looked like they were files on specific people- it left him a bit unsettled. And then there was the man who was standing in front of him- he wore a professional outfit that looked sort of like a police uniform, maybe he worked at the place? [break][break]

The man took a step towards him, and Levi flinched, freezing in place. “I’m going to need those files back,” the man said, continuing to walk closer to him. Levi’s body became even more stiff, but he forced himself to slide over a couple of loose papers that were on the ground in front of him before scrambling as far away from the man as possible. He tried to think of something to say, anything to get him out of this impossible situation; but nothing came. In front of him, the man’s expression shifted from concerned to puzzled, as if he was confused about something. “Who’s fronting right now?” he asked, finally stopping in his tracks. [break][break]

Levi didn’t know how to answer that question. He was questioning if this was all a dream, or a prank, or some kind of funny trick that his friends were playing on him, but the fear he was feeling was a little too real to know this wasn’t a dream. “I-I’m not sure what you mean,” he started, trying to scrape his mind for any kind of feasible answer. He remembered reading something about a mental disorder called DID where it mentioned fronting, but that couldn’t be what the man meant, right? Levi’s stomach churned as he tried to finish his statement. “Do you mean, like, DID? I- uh, I don’t have that…” Levi began to sweat, his anxiety at an all time high. “I’m sorry, where am I? A-and who are you? Is this some kind of joke? Because if it is, haha! So funny. Can I go home now?”
