DARIUS SAEED
ABOUT
Darius was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt. At the age of eight, he discovered his first gift: psychometry. A few years later he discovered his telepathic gift. He was a good kid, got good grades and had plenty of friends. He showed an interest in history and archaeology, and as he continued to grow, he also developed an interest in anthropology.
Soon before setting off to university, he met an American tourist. They discovered that they had a mutual gift, and got to talking. She told him about The Sector, probably thinking it didn't matter since he lived halfway across the world, which was true. He wouldn't think about The Sector again until he moved to the USA himself. After he finished high school, he moved to Los Angeles, where he attended UCLA. Here he was confronted with how out of control some gifteds are. This eventually led him to moving to Los Eurosia, remembering this was where Bridget lived, and joined The Sector himself as a detective.
Darius uses his gifts to investigate what has happened at sites where it is suspected that a gifted-related issue has happened. He either uses his psychometry to see the history of an item/witness, or uses his telepathy on suspects to see what they're thinking. This job is, of course, secret and not common knowledge. His cover up is his job as a scholar.
PLATONIC
Darius is a kind and warm person. He gets along with almost everyone, and tries to see the good in everyone. That being said, his telepathic ability comes into play here as well. He trusts it to form an opinion on people, but still gives them a change to show what they're like.
He likes meeting new people, and loves hearing about their life stories. He likes deep conversations about everything and anything, and doesn't shy away from heavy topics, if they do happen to come up. Talking with a cup of tea on the sofa, with a blanket over your lap and some kind of documentary on in the background sounds like a fun evening to Darius.
ANTAGONISTIC
You really have to push your luck to get on Darius' bad side, but it is possible! He is very proud of his roots, so if you were to insult Egypt, he will be offended. He gives too many chances, but once these are up, he will probably give you one last chance not hesitate to cut you out of his life. He can't remember the last time he has truly gotten mad, but he can become very cold and distant if you go too far. Most of the time, this happens with people who he's investigating for The Sector.
ROMANTIC
L'amour. Darius is a romantic. Roses, letters, good morning texts, thoughtful gifts, the whole shebang. He has dated in his past, but is currently single. Darius is quick to crush on someone, and loses interest quickly as well. When it's the real deal, though, he will go to big lengths to make sure his partner is happy and loved. He likes to make his partner feel seen, and does so by remembering small things and trying to spontaneously organise dates and plans. Sometimes it can even seem a bit much, to some.
PLOT HOOKS
- Fear and Loathing in Los Eurosia - Something happens to your (gifted) character and The Sector needs to intervene/figure out what has happened. Darius is asked to speak to the witness and use his gift to find out what has went down.
- Habibi (M/F/X) - Darius and your character meet on a dating app and arrange to meet up in person. This can go a few ways, and I'm open to either discussing it beforehand or seeing where the thread takes us. Maybe they get along really well, maybe your character catfished him, maybe he puts too much effort into the date and that's an ick. Or they have an amazing date and a next one is discussed? Who's to say! Love is unpredictable.
