swear to me you'll come back
“No good friends, no bad friends; only people you want, need to be with."
THE INSPIRATION
Very loosely inspired by The Losers Club vibes in Stephen King’s “It”.
THE CONCEPT
TW: brief mentions of death/tragic accidents.
Georgina Meadows was part of a tightly-knit friend group of six back in high school that went from doing everything together to suffering a devastating tragedy when one of them (Hannah Morrow) died in a tragic accident. (I’ve been imagining they were on their way to or from a party in one or two separate cars, and whoever was driving probably felt responsible and incredibly guilty for what happened, BUT all of this is up for revision. Maybe it wasn’t a car accident. Maybe it was a different kind of tragedy, etc.! Whatever it was, Georgie, a medium, saw Hannah’s ghost that night and basically has her own regrets that have haunted + driven her all these years.)
The aftermath, grief, and guilt of the tragedy pretty much defined their senior year and, while I imagine they tried to struggle through it, eventually the weight of it all was too heavy. Things were never the same and the group broke apart. What that looked like is also completely up for discussion! (Maybe a pair or two of them stayed close, maybe they took sides and turned on each other, maybe some of them had huge falling outs while others just drifted apart.)
No matter what it looked like, after graduation they scattered and went on to live separate, and very different, adult lives — at least, for the most part. I imagine it’s totally possible that some of them kept in touch in their own ways, but I still envision it more like ‘social media friends who aren’t really friends anymore’ or the occasional drunk/I miss you/regret this call tomorrow kinda thing, but again, there could be soo many dynamics here, so it’s very open to interpretation and nothing’s set in stone.
What I’m interested in is WHAT IF now some — or all — of them are reunited? Even just having one of them around for Georgie to connect with would be so fun, while NPCing the other three or assuming they’re still out there doing their own thing. I have a lot of really vague but passionate thoughts about what this could all look like (lolol) and I’d looove to flesh it all out with someone/anyone who’s interested!
There could be so many juicy dynamics here. Maybe some of them have known each other since childhood. Maybe some of them had secret feelings for each other, or dated each other; maybe there was a recurring rivalry/love-hate dynamic between two of them. Idk, there’s a ton to tap into, and I’m intrigued by forming some loose ideas of what it all looked like and then throwing them together NOW, after so much has changed, to see what happens. And to see if they have anything in common these days except their mutual trauma and tragedy and, even if not… what that could look like. I think there’s a lot of subtle things to play with, here.
I’ve left these concepts totally open as anyone within a certain age range could fit – even existing characters who went to school in Los Eurosia. Hit me up if you've got any thoughts or might be interested.
