Ophelia long debated about attending the masquerade.
On the one hand, she would have to fake her entire personality once more in the public eye, put up her facade to mask the cold, emotionless individual that she was. But on the other, it would be the best time to promote herself as the wholesome, warm mayor that she had come to portray herself to be. Publicity wise, it would be opportunity to show she was willing to go even to the most casual of events mayor or not. After a few days of mulling over the decision, Ophelia finally convinced herself to go. Mostly just to have a night of fun and not concern herself with politics or being a Hunter for the night. Not like anything needed to be done right away anyhow.
On the night the masquerade was scheduled, Ophelia took a little time to get all dolled up for the event. Arriving to Town hall, the red haired woman had her hair up all done in a nice braid, donning a green ball gown dress that made her green eyes pop even more along with a matching masquerade mask that was a shade darker with fake rhinestones and darker green feathers lining the top. It was not her typical attire certainly, but for this occasion she was willing to step outside her comfort zone.
Even before she had opened her car door, she could see there was quite the turn out. It seemed people from all walks of life were attending; some people she recognized right away and others she did not. Naturally, her eyes scanned the area out of habit, ensuring if something did crop up she could slip away as quickly as need be before she reminded herself it was meant to be an easy-going, fun occasion, but the potential for disaster. But, that was how her brain had long since worked. An exit plan was always needed, danger could always be present. Mentally shaking these thoughts aside, Ophelia reminded herself to relax and try to have a good time. It was a masquerade, nothing more. Sighing softly to herself, the woman tried to settle her instincts and finally closed her car door, making her way towards town hall that seemed so different when decorated for the spooky season. It was actually kind of nice...
As she made her way up the steps, the red head nodded towards those she recognized, offering her fake warm smile, putting up that carefully made facade the moment she hit the crowds. An hi here and hi there, a soft grin or smile, it was all performance she was use to, a song and dance to keep others at ease around her. Before long, Ophelia found herself inside where it was more crowded and more noisy, the masquerade already in full swing. 'Doesn't seem so bad.' She thought to herself, convinced now she could just relax, moving to one waiter who offered a glass of champagne of which she took, thanking the man as she occupied a bit of her time to roam the room, taking in the atmosphere as she sipped her drink.
