Too Bad It's Too Late •••• "BUT IT'S SUCH A GORGEOUS PLACE! THINK OF IT AS A SUMMER VACATION?" Asking her to leave - go to a conversion camp, as though this was a fixable issue. Comical and devastating all at once. Ambrose had put up at least an act that he finally accepted Mattie - it was all a scam. She scoffed at his suggestions, certain they were coming solely from Senior's head and not willing to believe her father would force her into such torture. The trust was broken - non existent at this point. It took time, but Mattie's refusal and determination to prove that her gifts were indeed real, and could be used in a non harmful way, finally won her father over. He conceded and never brought the camp up again. •••• "HOW ARE YOU?" Mattie smiled softly at Ambrose's voice - her weekly calls with her father were much becoming the highlight of her week, swapping patient stories and letting her vent about the monstrosities of the world. Until this part. "SENIOR IS ASKING OF YOU. WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU VISIT, OR WE COULD VISIT YOU?" Mattie skated over the question. •••• "MATTIS OPHELIA FOX, IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO FORGIVE YOUR MOTHER! YOU FORGAVE ME, DIDN'T YOU? JUST GIVE HER A CHANCE! WE WILL VISIT IN THE SPRING, THAT IS FINAL." Her face ran red with anger. "Too bad it's too late to mend that one, Dad."
