When the top of a child’s head unexpectedly emerged into view from beneath the partition wall that separated Brenna’s changing cubicle from the neighboring one, alarm rapidly assaulted her. “You shouldn’t be doing that,” She scolded the little girl, swiftly pushing her head backward while hurriedly adjusting the rest of her shirt into place. In defiance, the little one wailed out a cry of rebellion and stubbornly made her way into the room, large tears shimmering in her eyes. “Where’s my mama!” She exclaimed, and understanding of the situation quickly became clear to Brenna. “I’m sure your mother is somewhere in the store.” She offered a gentle smile, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes. She wasn’t accustomed to dealing with children, and a motherly touch wasn’t something that came naturally to her. Unlatching the door to the changing room, Brenna stepped out and gestured for the little girl to do the same. This was the first time she had encountered a situation like this, and she was thankful that she was nearly fully dressed when the girl had peered her head through. “I’ll help you find…,” Brenna’s voice trailed off as they stepped out into the hallway of the changing room, her attention drawn to one of the store’s employees who was gathering the clothing that needed to be returned to the sales floor. @josh [googlefont=Poppins]

[googlefont="Unica One"] [attr="class","joshdarkpost"] [attr="class","joshdarkpost-top"] ༻⋅ Weekend, Summer, Afternoon ⋅༺[attr="class","wjoshpost"]Josuette was in the back of the store surrounded with metal shelves against dreary, slightly soiled white walls. The task she was doing was monotonous, but she had no thoughts or feelings of dismay towards the work. She did not start working with any illusion of enjoyment, she was only interested in saving as much money as she possibly could.
The buzz of a florescent bulb flickered above her head as emerald eyes went over the inventory list to make sure she didn't miss anything. In the distance there was a sound of a wail, but like most noises within the mall she drowned it out, that is until she was interrupted by another worker.
"Josie there's something going on in the changing rooms. I need you to deal with it," Holly poised it like a question, but her gaze was glued to her phone as she feverishly texted one of her boyfriends. A look that could kill flickered over her features and she didn't move.
"He's so stupid," she complained, but after no movement came from her fellow co-worker she glanced upwards. "Ugh really. I mean Josuette. Jeeze girl." An exasperated sigh left her, as she dramatically dropped her shoulders. But Holly's brief annoyance didn't phase her, she had been very clear on what her name was and wasn't.
The door to the storage room opened, and Josuette immediately made her way to the changing room, where she caught sight of a young girl. Her words fell away when her amber eyes settled onto her. Josuette's expression remained...unyielding, but something about this girl internally threw her off. "...What seems to be the problem?" She asked, brows drawing down somewhat into a frown because of the feelings stirring inside of her.
Why did she feel a familiarity with this girl?
But her expression soon became less intense, when a child unexpectedly stumbled from the changing room, to step right in front of the stranger.

When the young employee entered the changing rooms, Brenna couldn’t help but notice her striking beauty, although her demeanor appeared sharp and unfriendly. Meanwhile, the little girl stumbled out into the hallway, drawing their attention with her tear-stained face and sniffles. “Where’s my Mama!” She echoed, clearly distressed. “I want my Mama!” Where was the girl’s mother? Brenna wondered with a hint of internal frustration. The commotion she was causing should have been enough to draw her attention. “I think she lost sight of her mom.” Brenna pointed out, even though that had become evident. She offered the crying girl's head a soft pat. “I’m sure she’s just somewhere in the store.”@josh [googlefont=Poppins]

It was abnormal for her to feel this way, and her recognition of such was immediate. Even with the noise of the four year old girl, Josuette's gaze lingered on the stranger longer then it should have. Her unsettled frown returned, but she listened and gave a silent nod in response.
"I can take it from here," she offered and gestured for the little girl to approach her. However, to their surprise, she stepped behind the brown haired girl. "You're not my mama," she complained with a pout, and irritation swelled within the taller female. "Neither is the girl you're clinging to." Josuette spoke far too sharply considering she was dealing with a child. But the toddler merely stepped back, hands still grasping the stranger's clothes as she looked her over and determined.
"She's my friend." She gave a nod little locks bobbing up and down, as stepped back into place beside her. An impatient breath left the blonde, before her gaze returned to the other. She...didn't like that her hair was down, it felt inappropriate for some...unexplained reason. She frowned harder, growing tired of her own thoughts.
"What does your mother look like?"
"Mama," she corrected with a sniffle and then waited expectantly for her to say mama too. Which of course under no circumstances would Josuette ever say such a thing, with another calculated deep breath she replied. "...What does she look like?"
ooc: Lol, Josuette is like grr...grr. Also forgot her hair! I added it in my last post. Oof.

A peculiar sensation coiled around Brenna’s heart, causing her to feel hesitation in the social situation. Was it normal to notice the striking features of another female? To feel a sense of awareness to their beauty or attractiveness? Common sense and a reservoir of wisdom assured Brenna that it was perfectly normal, and yet this was the first time she had taken notice of such a thing. Regardless, it wasn’t as though any of it actually mattered. She hadn’t been relocated to Los Eurosia to spread her wings and explore social connections or make friends. No, she found herself thrust into an entirely new dilemma of having to grapple with the concept of having an uncontrollable power that forcibly altered her gender. It was precisely this power that had brought her out shopping for clothes at the Daily Thread store. She needed to expand her wardrobe with a focus on acquiring specifically more gender-neutral attire. “I can take it from here.” Josuette, whose name Brenna now spied on her nametag, asserted, deciding to take charge of the situation. It was a unique and beautiful name, but she couldn’t shake off the unsettling feeling that arose from her sudden and unexplained… intrigue. The little girl reacted negatively to Josuette’s stern and forward behavior, seeking refuge behind Brenna. “You’re not my mama.” She protested, clinging to the familiarity of Brenna’s presence. “Neither is the girl you’re clinging to.” Josuette retorted sharply, catching Brenna off guard. Instinctively, she stepped in with the intention to help defuse the situation. “I don’t mind helping out.” She offered in an attempt to maintain peace. “I imagine we’ll find her mama in the main part of the store. We can all go and search for her together.”@josh ༺ WEEKEND - SUMMER - AFTERNOON - OUTFIT - HAIR ༻ooc: and brenna thought that she was not motherly enough with kids, hahaha. also, brenna interrupted the convo oops. It forced Josuette to calm herself down, she just needed to deal with the issue and move on. "We can all go and search for her together." Soft lips offered and something about her words settled past her barriers.
Josuette remained where she was, hesitating, but she forced herself to give a brief nod of acceptance before turning to step out from the changing rooms. There were two others within the store, both women, and she simply waited for the child to approach and point out her mother.
The nearness of the brunette made her uncomfortable and she purposely stepped away from her to create more distance between them. Between them the little one stood, and she quickly looked around. "Mama!" She called out, drawing the gazes of the other shoppers, but neither of them were her mother because they showed no recognition.
It irritated Josuette that a mother would abandon her child, but it was something even her own mother had done to her. Why were some women allowed to have children. "We can take her to security," Josuette told the other young adult beside her, turning her head to look at her with sharp green eyes.
ooc: That's so clever that she was shopping to get clothes she could accidently turn into a boy in. 😱 Oh, and with this scene, if you want them to drop the little girl off that's fine. But if you like the dynamics you can have the little girl in your next post not want to go? The three of them emerged from the woman’s changing rooms, Josuette stepping aside to make space for the little girl who nestled herself between them. Taking a quick look around the store, the child immediately took matters into her own hands and called out for her mother, not willing to wait for guidance. Brenna felt uneasy about the attention the scene attracted, but she understood there was little she could do. The other customers glanced in their direction but showed little other interest or recognition. Likewise, the little girl grew increasingly more distraught the longer her mother remained out of sight. “We can take her to security.” Josuette decided the next course of action. However, Brenna’s gaze shifted down to her black, gray, and green sweater, paired with black jeans. “I haven’t purchased these yet. Is it all right if I keep them on for now?” Truthfully, the situation made her feel exceedingly uncomfortable. Nevertheless, it was clear that Josuette possessed even less decorum than her when it came to interacting with children. The little girl’s distress escalated, and she burst into tears, sobbing for her absent mother. Brenna refused to believe it was anything other than a mistake. The child must have become lost, or there might have been a miscommunication between parents. She was certain that the girl’s mother was equally as distraught by the disappearance of her daughter. @josh ༺ WEEKEND - SUMMER - AFTERNOON - OUTFIT - HAIR ༻ooc: i might flip a coin to see if the little girl is okay with leaving the store or not, haha. Is it all right if I keep them on for now?” the brunette responded, prompting Josuette to glance down her body. She recognized both items and immediately her mind attempted to judge the contrasting blue against her hair and eyes, but she stifled her thoughts. It wasn't important.
She lingered, letting the girl's question remain stagnant in the air before the little girl's bothersome crying drew her eyes. Her mouth formed a thin line, but she didn't say anything. "It's fine," she answered the amber eyed female, but then lead her to the storage door. Using her card key, she unlocked the door. "Holly, you need to watch the front of the store."
"What why?" She asked, with surprise as she stepped out and looked between the three of them. "I'm bringing her to security." Josuette gestured towards the child who was still sobbing. "I can do it," Holly didn't hesitate to step forward, crouching down to shake a keychain attached to her phone that looked like a toy. "Where's your mommy honey?" she asked soothingly using the keychain as a distraction as she picked the little girl up and calmed her down immediately.
Josuette followed her movement, turning her head as she watched Holly leave the store to try and find the mother. It should have made her feel unpleasant that she had no kindness to show a fragile child. But she found that she felt nothing. Slowly, her eyes drew to the girl beside her, her expression devoid of a response before she turned to get back to work.
Her chest felt heavy from the action, but she ignored it.
ooc: Okay so flipped a coin, and it landed on 'child throws a fit' lol. But then I realized there were only 2 workers in this small store, so Josuette would have to get Holly and, she just naturally took care of the child. Sorry if this messes things up!

Led by Josuette, the three made their way to the back of the store, where she used a key card to open the door and speak to another employee named Holly. “Holly, you need to watch the front of the store.” Josuette instructed. Within moments, a young woman, not much older than Brenna, emerged from the room, appearing concerned. “I’m bringing her to security.” Josuette informed, gesturing toward the child. The other girl crouched down in front of the little girl, offering her to play with her cell phone before gently lifting her up. “Where’s your mommy, honey?” She asked, her voice filled with empathy as she began to take her out of the store and to security. Taken aback by the sudden turn of events, Brenna found herself merely staring in silent bewilderment for a long moment. However, now that the little girl had been dealt with, it was only moments later before Josuette unexpectedly began to take her leave. Brenna’s gaze shifted down to her own attire, and she decided that the best and only thing left to do was return to the dressing rooms and change back into her own clothes. However, as she started walking toward the dressing rooms, she realized that Josuette was also heading in the same direction, presumably to resume her work. And it created an awkward moment of Brenna quietly following from behind. @josh ༺ WEEKEND - SUMMER - AFTERNOON - OUTFIT - HAIR ༻ooc: CONTROLLING MY NPCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Did she bother you while you were in the middle of changing?" She asked aggressively, turning her head to look at the girl with piercing eyes.

That same peculiar sensation crept up into Brenna’s chest once more, a feeling that she couldn’t quite place, as though the blonde woman was somehow familiar to her. “Did she bother you while you were in the middle of changing?” The question abruptly pierced the air, instantly capturing Brenna’s attention. As her gaze met Josuette’s sharp glare, a vivid recollection flooded Brenna’s mind—a recurring dream that she often experienced. A dream of a wolf with beautiful golden fur and a gaze just as piercing and emerald green as hers. The realization struck her like a lightning bolt, and Brenna nearly gasped from the revelation. Another strained nod left her as she stepped aside and held the door open for her to enter. Once she did, Josuette closed it, and then remained outside. She pressed her back into the walling beside the changing room door and crossed her arms.
With a hardened glare she remained, feeling a sense of comfort inside of her at the aspect of guarding the stranger while she dressed.

Josuette held the door to the changing room open for her, and Brenna stepped inside. From below the door, she noticed her shadow stepping to one side and remaining there, as if guarding the door. It was a subtle gesture, and Brenna found appreciation in it. She hadn’t been comfortable with the little girl crawling into her changing room from the neighboring one, but thankfully, she had managed to protect herself. As Brenna began to undress, an uncomfortable silence filled the air, and intensified a feeling of awkwardness. Josuette’s hair and eye color bore a striking resemblance to the wolf from her recurring dreams, the same wolf she had grown attached to and frequently filled her sketch journals with. She knew it was only a coincidence, but it still unsettled her, stirring unpleasant emotions within her heart. Throughout her whole life, she had felt so isolated and alone, which only made the feelings she was experiencing now all the more unsettling. Brenna hurriedly dressed herself again, and in record time. She emerged from the changing room and turned to face the other young woman again. “I’d like to purchase these…,” She confirmed, straining from her inner turmoil, the sweater and jeans folded over her arm. @josh ༺ WEEKEND - SUMMER - AFTERNOON - OUTFIT - HAIR ༻ooc: ♥ ♥ ♥ [googlefont=Poppins]

Josuette extended her arms in a clear gesture that she expected her to hand over the clothes. With tension still lingering in her posture, Brenna complied, handing over the items. She wondered where Josuette lived and how old she was. Although, those felt like inappropriate thoughts considering they had barely met.
