WELCOME TO LOS EUROSIA,
CASSIDY JAMES HARLOW
"Not all those who wander are lost."
BASICS
NAME: Cassidy “Cass” James Harlow
ALIASES: Sid, CJ, James, Jimmy, Jay
AGE: 30
BIRTHDATE: June 13th
PRONOUNS: he/him
SEXUALITY: bisexual
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: single
OCCUPATION: jack of all trades
NEIGHBORHOOD: wherever he parks his van
MEMBER GROUP: gifted (blackstorm-curious)
POWERS: invisibility & superhuman senses
- Invisibility: manifested when he was a young teenager. When he was younger he had trouble controlling it, and would sometimes go invisible when he felt extreme embarrassment, or fear, or sorrow from being ignored or left alone. He learned to control it pretty quickly and can now go visible or invisible at will, though it's still sometimes triggered if he's distracted by very strong emotion. Any non-living thing that's touching a part of his body will also become invisible. So, clothing, shoes, and the rubber band in his hair, for example, or anything he picks up. He has to be careful not to do it when he's barefoot or the part of the ground touching his feet will also become invisible, giving him away. Also if he's wearing socks, his shoes will still be visible. His power doesn't work on vehicles, since they're made up of many different parts. Only the steering wheel, and maybe the seat, would be invisible, for example. Sometimes things can get tricky, and parts of his clothing, or other things he's wearing, might not turn invisible when he does, so he has to be careful to wear as little as possible when he uses his power, and tighter clothes are better. He still doesn't fully understand exactly what will be affected and what won't.
- Superhuman Senses: the first to manifest, when he was a small child. He didn’t even realize anything was different about him for the longest time, he just thought everyone could smell, taste, hear, and see as well as he could. He played around with his senses a lot when he was a kid, especially when he was bored; tuning his hearing in and out, focusing his vision between close and far like a telescope, dulling and sharpening his sense of smell, or the flavor of the gum he was chewing, or the sensation of his fingers as he ran them over his desk at school. As a result he has very strong mastery over this ability and can make any of his senses stronger or weaker at will.
THE LOOKS
HEIGHT: 5’11
WEIGHT: 160lbs
HAIR COLOR: brown
EYE COLOR: blue
FACE CLAIM: Matt Corby
OVERALL APPEARANCE: He has lightly freckled fair skin, usually with a farmer’s tan. His medium brown hair is wavy and messy with the occasional curl, and it’s just long enough to pull back into a small ponytail to get it out of his face. It’s streaked golden from sun exposure and shines with auburn in the sunlight. He sports a short, scruffy beard, mostly because he doesn’t have the facilities to shave every day. His pretty blue eyes are deceptively soulful and kind, and he has a disarmingly attractive smile.
Has a large tattoo on his back of a heart with flowers growing from it and a dagger through it, he has the name ‘Latisha’ tattooed on his right shoulder in flowing script, the name ‘Antonio’ tattooed on his left forearm in gothic style, and the name ‘Morgan’ tattooed over his heart in decorated print.
He wears ratty jeans, t-shirts with a variety of slogans, and denim jackets, with well-worn combat boots. He has a leather jacket covered in pins and patches that he brings out when it gets cold, or when he’s trying to look like a badass. Wears accessories regularly (silver rings, leather bracelets, long necklaces, and wide-brimmed hats). Prefers cool colors (blue, green, purple) but will wear pretty much any color.

STRENGTHS
- can hold his own in a fight: reasonably well, anyway. He's good with his fists, and he's fast, but he's not trained in any kind of fighting style. He's not afraid to fight dirty, though, especially if the stakes are high.
- can take a beating and still get up: as long as he's still conscious and breathing, he won't stop fighting. His pride and stubbornness won't let him. And he can take a lot before he gets knocked unconscious, since he can just dull out the sensation of the pain.
- independent, resourceful, and adaptable: he's just good at taking caring of himself and keeping himself alive, and good at being alone despite how much he hates it.
- good judge of character: his time on the streets and, later, traveling has enabled him to swiftly determine whether a person is dangerous, or not a threat at all, with fairly good accuracy.
- quick learner: picks up new concepts and ideas quickly after only being shown once or twice.
- excellent sense of direction: can easily find his way around new places after a quick tour, and through the woods or other wilderness.
- good liar: he doesn't lie often, because most of the time he just doesn't see the point, but that just makes him more convincing when he does lie. When he really wants something, he has no qualms about lying to get it, and he does so casually and with ease.
WEAKNESSES
- useless with weapons: guns, knives, or anything else you put in front of him are useless in his hands. He doesn't mind trying, but he usually fumbles them, or just doesn't know how to hold them properly, and no one's ever bothered to teach him.
- loyal to a fault: he grows attached to people quickly, and once they earn his loyalty they keep it, no matter what they do. They don't lose it unless they he perceives them to have greatly betrayed him, personally (usually through abandonment). As long as they show even a hint of care for him, though, his loyalty will remain. Even if they kill someone, he will remain loyal. Even if it's unhealthy for him, and hurts him, he won't revoke his loyalty; those he loves can do no wrong in his eyes.
- abandonment issues: almost everything he does is motivated by his abandonment issues and his fear of being alone. He will do almost anything to keep someone from leaving him. Ally, friend, lover, family member, it doesn't matter.
- smart-mouthed and opinionated: he doesn't know when to shut up, and tends to just say what's on his mind, and this has gotten him into trouble, or into ass-kicking, more times than he cares to admit. Yet he still hasn't learned his lesson.
- anti-authority: he is of the opinion that all people are equal, and that means authority doesn't exist to him. No one holds any authority over him unless he allows them to.
- easily bored: this is a fault because he will do stupid, reckless, ridiculous things in order to chase away his boredom.
- stubborn: once he makes up his mind about something, or someone, it's difficult to get him to change it.
OVERALL PERSONALITY: Cass is generally a kind, fair, open-minded person who tends to take life as it comes. For the most part. He can get intense, and even obsessive, about the people he cares about, and he'll do anything to keep them safe and happy. He also tends to have strong opinions about things, and he doesn't shy away from voicing them. Beyond that, though, he's spontaneous and generally easy-going, and he doesn't hold it against you if you have a differing opinion from him. He presents himself as friendly and gregarious, and has an easy time talking to new people and getting them to open up, and he's good at coming across as non-threatening. He's seen and heard a lot in his life, so not much surprises him anymore, and if something does he's good at hiding it and rolling with the punches. His go with the flow attitude and easy smile has a way of putting people at ease when he first meets them. He's difficult to ruffle, most of the time, because he's good at keeping his reactions and emotions controlled. He does have a few buttons that get him worked up, but not many people can find them.

HISTORY
Cass was born in Austin, but his mother was a wanderer at heart, and he only lived the first couple months of his life there before she was on the move again, this time with a baby in tow. He was a well-behaved baby, quiet and watchful, but as he got older and became too difficult to travel with, she would leave him with family or close friends for long periods of time. When he was four, he’d already stopped crying every time she left him behind. It was normal, at that point.
From the age of two, until about twelve, he was shuttled back and forth, from place to place (Texas, Florida, Louisiana, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Colorado) and his mother never left him in one place for more than a few months before she came back to get him and take him to a new place. When he was twelve, though, he was staying with his Uncle Isaac, and his mother came to stay with him. The two of them remained together in Louisiana for a few months before they had to leave because Susie and Isaac just didn’t get along. Cass was relieved; he was tired of being stuck sharing a room with Connor, his bully of a cousin.
This time, Susie kept Cass with her instead of dropping him off somewhere else, and from then on, things were different. He traveled with her all the time, and when they stayed somewhere for a longer period of time, they stayed together. They eventually ended up staying with Susie’s sister, Dani, in Tennessee, for almost two years, and it was the longest Cass had stayed anywhere in his life.
They moved on from there, though, as always, and traveled for long another stretch of time before ending up in Florida, with Susie’s parents, Sterling and Marina. Sterling got Susie a job with the company he worked for, and she settled right in to being a truck driver like she was made for it. Cass got to spend the last three years of school in one place, and graduated with the rest of his class. As a graduation present his mother gave him the old van that had basically been his part-time home growing up. He surprised her by immediately hitting the road. Setting off on his own for the first time ever.
He fixed up the van to his own liking, and he's spent a little more than a decade, now, traveling around in a manner similar to what his mother did when he was a kid. He doesn't stay in one place for very long, but when he does, it's because of love. Because of a man or woman he grew attached to and couldn't bring himself to leave. Until they leave him, and then he's gone, trying to outrun the heartbreak.
In his adulthood, he's always enjoyed the nomadic lifestyle. In the past few years, though, he's been feeling lonelier, and staying in places for longer periods of time. He wants to settle down somewhere for good, he thinks, but nowhere seems like the right place. So he keeps moving, keeps searching for some sort of belonging. Some feeling of home.
This is his first time in Los Eurosia, and he came here from a nearby town because he heard whispers, rumors, about Blackstorm, and he was intrigued. He's only been here a couple of weeks, but so far he likes what he sees. He hasn't been able to find out anything more about Blackstorm just yet, but he's keeping his ears open.
