MEN: with men he tends to be a lot more forward and isn’t afraid to openly, and sometimes outrageously, flirt as soon as he meets them. He isn’t usually worried about being pushy, unless the guy seems particularly anxious or avoidant, and then he backs off. He also isn’t afraid of accidentally flirting with straight men, as he’s come to find out many of them enjoy it even if they aren’t interested in him. He’s gotten punched in the past for being too forward with men, but that has yet to deter him.

WOMEN: with women, he is a lot more cautious and respectful, and is always wary of coming across as a dangerous creep and does his best to avoid that. Both because of the way his mother raised him, and because of his own past experience. He’s a feminist! Or, at least, he tries his hardest to be. He flirts much more subtly with women. At least at first. Once he gets the green light he can get just as bad as he is with men. Though, he’s always wary and watchful of any silent cues or signals women are trying to send to him.

OPINION & EXPERIENCE

GIFTEDS: Cass is constantly amazed by his fellow gifted human beings. He's met plenty of them in his travels, and had friendships and relationships with as many of them that would have him. He's occasionally even made enemies with them (usually those that use their powers to harm others, his friends and loved ones in particular). He feels a deep kinship with fellow gifteds that he doesn't feel for average ungifted humans, and if he finds out someone is gifted he does anything in his power to become their friend, or get close to them in some way. He is unfailingly fascinated by the variety of powers people can have, and he always wants to learn more.

HUMANS: In general he feels a bit sorry for average, non-gifted humans. Beyond that, he doesn't view them any differently than anyone else. He doesn't think he's better than them, just different from them. He's had plenty of friendships and relationships with humans, and usually doesn't hesitate to display his powers to them.

HUNTERS: He has no idea hunters are a thing, since he’s moved around too much for it to ever have been a problem (all his trouble has been of the mundane variety, or from other gifted). He’s never had someone try to kill him because of what he can do, and he’s never been hesitant to reveal his powers to people, whether to impress them or otherwise.

SECTOR: He has no idea The Sector exists, either. He’s never had trouble with groups like The Sector because, again, he moves around so much it’s just never come up. By the time someone arrives to investigate, he’s already gone.

BLACKSTORM: He has only heard of them through the fliers, and through whispers he’s heard in another nearby town. He has no idea what they are about, he’s only heard rumors. He came to town originally because of his curiosity about them.

He and Cass don't have a very strong relationship, because he wasn't around enough, but he always brings gifts and treats for his children and grandchildren when he comes home. He visits her as frequently as he can, including spending almost every holiday with her, and she spoils him and dotes on him at every opportunity. Works at the same diner she's worked at for almost twenty years, and it's where she met Isaac, shortly after she started work there. She loves her family, but loves Isaac more, and never argues with him about anything he decides. He calls the shots in the family, and she's fine with that. APPEARING THREADS -none

CONNOR HARLOW (32) COUSIN | DISLIKED GIFTED WITH ILLUSION MANIPULATION impression: entitled, mean-spirited Cass' older cousin, Isaac's son from his first marriage. A criminal just like his father. Cass and Connor have never exactly gotten along. Connor has always been Cass' biggest bully, even now that they're adults, but it got bad when they were kids. Cass does whatever he can to avoid Connor, and rarely visits his uncle because Connor still lives with his father. APPEARING THREADS -none

LISSETTE HARLOW (19) COUSIN GIFTED WITH PHEROMONE MANIPULATION impression: rebellious, independent Cass' cousin, Isaac and Justine's daughter. A troubled girl who wants nothing more than to get out of her hometown and leave her family and problems behind. She currently works as a stripper ever since she was fired from the diner her mother works at, and she hates her job. She lives on her own, since her father threw her out when she turned eighteen because she wouldn't help him with his crimes, and she does whatever she can to earn money to keep a roof over her head. She hates everyone in her family, including Cass on principal, and refuses to accept his help no matter how many times he's offered it. APPEARING THREADS -none

DUSTIN HARLOW (17) COUSIN PRESUMED UNGIFTED impression: lonely Cass' cousin, Isaac and Justine's son. He's the youngest member of the family, and everyone still treats him like a baby most of the time, which drives him crazy. TAMSYN BEST FRIEND GIFTED impression: kindred spirit, fun Cass' best friend for nearly a decade. She's done a little bit of traveling with him, but her own nomadic urges usually end up taking them in opposite directions from each other. They manage to stay in touch, though, and see each other a few times a year. They tried dating briefly, when they first met and she still thought she was bisexual. MORGAN EX GIFTED impression:  Cass' ex. Cass has their name tattooed over his heart. Cass met Morgan on the subway in New York City and they just clicked. Morgan was a thief, who was nomadic, like him, but for criminal reasons rather than wanderlust reasons. They traveled together for over two years, and Cass was sure Morgan was his soulmate. Then he woke up one morning and Morgan was gone, and Cass never saw them again. They left a note, something about a big score, and not wanting him involved because they didn't want him getting in trouble. He looked for them, but never found them, and so he had no choice but to move on. He's angry at being abandoned but he still thinks of them often. APPEARING THREADS -none

LATISHA "TISH"  EX GIFTED impression:  Cass' ex. Cass has her name tattooed on his shoulder. Cass met her at Burning Man. She was a talented performer that was wowing onlookers with her skill, and she and Cass made eye contact through the crowd on the first day of the festival. They spent the entire nine days together, missing most of the festival because they were in his van or her tent a lot of the time. He was sure she was his soulmate. They got each other's name's tattooed on their skin while they were at the festival. She had to go home after the festival, and he couldn't go with her, but they exchanged numbers. Her number was out of service when he tried it, though, and she has yet to call him. APPEARING THREADS -none

ANTONIO EX GIFTED impression:  Cass' ex. Cass has Antonio's name tattooed on his arm. Cass met him at a club in Las Vegas. He's a gangster and drug trafficker who found a lot of uses for Cass' powers, and Cass was willing to do anything for him because he loved him so much. They were "together" for a little over a year, and Cass was sure Antonio was his soulmate, and then Antonio broke things off with Cass when he found someone with even more useful powers, and Cass wasn't satisfied with sharing him with someone else. He had his men take Cass out into the desert to kill him because he knew too much, but Cass managed to use his powers to escape. He hasn't been back to Vegas since. APPEARING THREADS -none
