tell me how you reach the moon The one thing Charlotte would never get used to, was that God awful feeling of waking up with a killer hangover. The second she opened her eyes, she felt a wave of nausea wash over her, and she had to take a few deep breaths to keep herself from having to vomit. Slow movements were mandatory now. If she moved too quick, the contains of her stomach might feel the need to make themselves seen, and she wouldn't have the mental strength to clean it up before Jack would claim it as a snack. Where was that dog, anyway? She felt warmth behind her back, and assumed it was Jack who was curled up next to her in bed. The dog often slept in bed with her. She had never understood the "no dogs on the furniture" policy that some people applied to their homes. Why would you even get a pet if you weren't going to allow it to actually live its life? Charlotte scrolled on her phone for a few moments before she was rudely disturbed by the low battery notification. She groaned softly and tried to grab the charger cord without leaning out of bed too much. By the time she found the cord, her phone had shut itself down. She must have missed the previous notifications. Without something to distract her from the hangover, she would have to find something else to do. The blonde slowly rolled over, with the intention of cuddling Jack. But it wasn't Jack's cute face that greeted her there. Instead, it was the face of a sleeping man. Things like these happen, she told herself. It sure had happened to her before, but that didn't mean that it was something that didn't startle her for a second. Luckily, her drunk self hadn't made the worst decision. The guy was kind of cute. But who was he? And what had they done? "Good morning, sleeping beauty", she said jokingly, trying to wake the man without being too loud. Would he still remember how he ended up here?

Something sharp digging into his side was what started to bring Cass into wakefulness, but he was so used to falling asleep in strange places, or with strange people, that it didn’t fully register at first. Not enough to wake him up all the way, anyway. In his half-asleep state, he felt the bed shift beside him, and unconsciously turned toward the movement. "Good morning, sleeping beauty," came a soft feminine voice, and he groaned lightly, slitting his eyes opened, unsure if the words were directed at him or not. A pretty blonde girl was looking at him, and the night before flooded back in as he woke up more fully. It wasn’t unusual for Cass to wake up somewhere other than his own bed, the unusual part was when he hadn’t slept with the person whose bed he’d woken up in. He’d had a few shots the night before, but was only a little drunk when Charlotte had invited him home with her. Not so drunk that he was out of control, or didn’t remember what had happened, though. Charlotte was pretty, and he’d never pass up on a pretty girl and a comfy bed. It wasn’t until they got to her place and were making out that he realized she’d had a lot more to drink than he had. He was no stranger to drunken hookups, but when he knew a girl was drunker than he was, he didn’t tend to go for it because it felt like he was taking advantage. He didn’t want her to think he was rejecting her, though—he knew very well how sensitive drunk people could be—so he’d carried her to her bedroom, helped her out of her shoes, and had every intention of putting her to bed alone. Instead, she’d insisted he stay, and she and the bed had looked so inviting, so they’d ended up making out until they both fell asleep. He grinned at Charlotte, now. “Morning,” he replied, voice croaky with sleep. “You remember me, right?” He wouldn’t be offended if she didn’t, and would quite willingly skedaddle out of her bed, and her home, if she wanted him to. The sharp digging in his side demanded his attention now that he was awake, and he reached down to push at the pressure, only to realize it was a dog’s paws pushing against him, stiff-legged. He chuckled, remembering the dog from the night before that had eagerly greeted its drunken owner when the two of them had walked in. “Hey there, buddy, am I in your spot?” he joked, patting the dog’s back and hoping he didn’t get bit for his trouble. ------------------------------------------------------------------ TAG: Charlotte Lewis OOC: let me know if you don't like where I took things. tell me how you reach the moon Her voice seemed enough to wake the stranger in her bed. It took him a while to fully wake up, and Charlotte used that time to dive deep in her brain to try to remember how this man had ended up in her bed. Her memory was foggy, but she remembered some things, here and there. Judging by the state of her body and what she remembered, they hadn't gone all the way, but a vague memory of them making out resurfaced. However, how exactly they had met and when she had invited him over, were both a mystery. She had a soft spot for croaky morning voice, and a slight grin appeared on her face when the man greeted her. But then came the dreaded question. "You remember me, right?" Charlotte pouted and placed a finger on her chin, pretending to think deeply, which, in reality, she was actually doing, but she had to play it off as a silly thing. If you weren't unfamiliar with hookup culture, you wouldn't be offended by someone forgetting your name, but it was always nicer if they did remember you. It stroked your ego, in a way, to be rememberable enough for a drink stranger. "Something with a C", she responded, gauging his face for a reaction of some sort. "Colin? Chris?" She laughed softly and shook her head slightly. "I might need some help." Hopefully she was at least close to what his actual name was. But merely seconds later, she had a revelation. "Cass!" She clapped her hands and regretted it immediately when the sound reached her ears and worsened her headache. "But do you remember me?" She wiggled her eyebrows. Cass seemed distracted by something, but Charlotte didn't immediately make the connection with Jack being a bit bratty about having to share his spot on the bed with someone. Luckily for the man, Jack had no idea what stranger-danger meant, and he loved just about anyone who set foot into the little house. The brown dog loved the attention he got and moved around, digging his snout into Cass' arm for more pets. Charlotte laughed and softly pushed Jack a bit, hoping it would stop him from demanding pets. "I'm sorry about Jack. He just loves a little too hard."
Another wave of nausea hit her, and she groaned again. The young woman dragged a hand down her face. Jack would settle down beside Cass again. "Seems like we had a good night, hm?" She looked at the stranger again. She noticed that she didn't particularly mind him still being here. It was definitely nicer than being ditched before you even woke up. FOR Cass Harlow - you're completely fine! I like the where you took things, very fitting for Charlotte!

He was about to help her with his name when she figured it out on her own, calling it out triumphantly. He beamed at her. “You got it,” he replied with a wink. “We were pretty drunk last night. I wasn’t sure how much you remembered. And yes I remember you, Charlotte. I didn’t have quite as much as you. Also, I’m a pro at holding my liquor,” he added with a joking air of bragging. As if that was anything to brag about.
When she reached over him to push her dog away, he touched her arm lightly. “No, no, it’s okay. I love dogs.” Jack had snuggled up to him, and hadn’t bitten him, so he took the risk and wrapped his arms around the little brown dog, pulling him close for a tighter snuggle as he grinned over at Charlotte. He hoped the dog tolerated his affections, because it had been way too long since he’d been able to snuggle with a sweet little pupper.
"Seems like we had a good night, hm?" Charlotte asked, and he snickered.
“Yeah, it was fun. You’re a great kisser, by the way,” he said slyly as he sat up. He left Jack in his lap as he stretched his arms over his head, popping his back from the twist of muscles he always got sleeping in a new bed. He was still wearing his jeans, but his shirt and boots were on the floor beside the bed. Next to his messenger bag, which he must have grabbed from his van before he’d come inside.
Or. Wait. He didn’t remember driving his van to her house. Had they taken an uber? Someone else had driven them, he was pretty sure. Shit. Maybe he didn’t remember as much about the night before as he thought he did.
Whatever. He wrapped his arms around the dog again, cuddling him close. He was getting puppy cuddles. He could figure the rest out later. If he had his bag, that meant he had his toothbrush, a change of socks and underwear, his pills, and a few other important things. He just hoped that wherever he’d left his van, it didn’t get towed; he’d pulled a jailbreak for it before, but it was such a hassle.
He looked back over at Charlotte, curious, but she didn’t seem eager to run him out of her house. So maybe he could get some breakfast and a shower out of the deal.
“Can you point me to the bathroom?” he asked, swinging his legs out from under the covers and over the side of the bed, standing up while still holding Jack. He reluctantly put the dog on the bed and stooped to grab his bag, leaving his shirt and boots behind for now. “Then I can make us breakfast if you have stuff? If you want breakfast?” He winced in sympathy as he got a good look at her. She didn’t look like she felt too good. Probably hungover. “Or we can skip breakfast and I can make you Cass’ Famous Never Fails Hangover Cure. It never fails. It’s right there in the name.” He grinned at her and just hoped she didn’t kick him out for his audacity.

tell me how you reach the moon Cass' wink left her smiling and satisfied with herself for having been able to remember his name. He explained some of the evening to her and slightly, but jokingly, bragged about hid ability to hold his liquor. “At least I get my money's worth", she chuckled. She had never been able to handle alcohol very well, but she wasn't a lightweight either. She had probably just overdone it that night. Still, there was some truth to her words. When you were broke, every dollar counted, and she would have been pretty annoyed if she had spent a bunch of money on drinks, only to not feel their effect. Her arm stopped mid air when Cass touched it. Charlotte smiled and withdrew it. It appeared that the man had no issue with the dog trying to get up close and personal. Jack's tail started wagging violently and it whacked everything in its way. Charlotte laughed when the dog seemed to give her a look that showed how happy he was with himself that he had successfully managed to squeeze his way into someone's arms. But Jack wasn't the only one who gave her that look. Cass' look said about the same thing as Jack's did. Charlotte certainly didn't mind the two of them cuddling. It was quite an adorable sight too. While Charlotte wasn't your typical girl, sone things were able to make her blush, and one of those things was getting complimented on how good of a kisser she was. "Well thank you", she responded with a chuckle, pushing a strand of hair out of her face. Her braids had goten quite messy during the night, probably due to a combination of making out and rolling around on her pillow while she slept. She secretly snuck a peak at Cass' body as he stretched. Not bad, not bad. She wanted to return the compliment, but decided against it. Sometimes she was aware of social norms, and getting into detail about what she did and didn't like seemed like an odd thing to do. Instead she would join Cass in getting out of bed. Apparently she had slept in her jeans as well, and she suddenly realised how unpleasant it now felt to still be wearing them. His question brought her back to the here and now. "Uh, yeah, sure." She shot him a quick smile. Her hangover didn't go unnoticed, and Cass, who had only just suggested breakfast, said they could also skip it and go for a hangover cure. Charlotte started walking towards the bedroom door, so she could show him the bathroom, while replying: "I have some eggs and bacon in the fridge, and there should still be some bread left, but since you're offering, I'd also like to try that Famous Never Fails Hangover Cure of yours." His audacity was actually something she could appreciate. Life was too short to tiptoe around everything. Being direct and confident was not only attractive but also nice, because it meant Charlotte had to make less decision herself. She opened the bedroom door and pointed at a door across the hall. "That's the bathroom. There's a lock on it, but it's a bit stiff, so it's up to you whether you want to use it or not. I won't barge in." She again laughed softly. Her roommate, Matthias, had basically moved out already, so he wasn't home either. The only one who might try to come into the bathroom was Jack, who was now following his new friend around, but Charlotte would try to get him back to her room. "Just shout if you need anything. I'll be in my room." But she would wait for his response, in case he needed anything, before turning around.

He laughed along with her about getting her money’s worth, and didn’t say anything about the fact that he never bought his own drinks. Couldn’t even if he wanted to; he had about three bucks to his name after recently filling the van’s gas tank. He charmed people into buying him drinks, or he swiped them when people weren’t paying attention. He couldn’t actually remember the last time he’d bought them himself.
“Ah, eggs and bacon. Eggs and bacon I can do!” In theory, anyway. It’d be edible, at least. At least she hadn’t said something like ‘I have a waffle maker’. He would have been totally lost, but he still would have made an attempt. He was just grateful he’d had a nice bed to sleep in, and a pretty girl to kiss, and that she hadn’t kicked him out yet. He felt like he owed her something, at least. “And one serving of Cass’ Famous Never Fails Hangover Cure,” he pointed at her with a grin, acknowledging her acceptance of his offer. He just hoped she had all the stuff he needed for it. Then again, even if she didn’t, there were a few things he could improvise.
“Oh, feel free to barge in if you want to. I won’t mind,” he shot her a wink before breezing out of the room.
He crossed the hall to the door she’d pointed at, assuming if she had wanted to get in there first, she would have said so. He appreciated the warning about the lock, but he wouldn’t bother with it. He almost hoped she did barge in, and maybe they could finish what they had started the night before. Something told him that wasn’t going to happen, though.
He didn’t realize until he turned to close the door that Jack was following him, looking up at him happily with a wagging tail. He grinned and stooped to scoop up the fuzzy bundle. He gave him one more cuddle. “I’ll be out in a minute, buddy,” he murmured before setting him gently on the floor outside the bathroom and shutting the door in his face.
When he got a look at himself in the mirror, he laughed at his wild hair, messier and sticking up even more than it usually did. He patted it down and ran his fingers through it a bit but didn’t bother with it beyond that. After quickly draining his bladder, he swished some of the mouthwash that was beside the sink and then scrubbed at his face with a handful of water to wake himself up a bit and get the crust out of his eyes. He was tempted to hop in the shower, eager for the hot water sluicing over his skin, but he didn’t want to overstay his welcome so soon. It had been far too long since he’d had a hot shower, though. He’d been making due with lukewarm showers out of a shower bag hung in a tree and warmed by the sun.
If he made her breakfast and cured her hangover, maybe she’d let him shower, then. And, anyway, she probably needed to use her own bathroom before he tied it up for too long. It had been really rude, actually, not to ask her if she needed the bathroom first, he realized. His house guest skills were a little rusty. Though, being a guest in a woman’s house was even more unfamiliar to him than hot showers, but that was still no excuse.
He rushed back to her room with a sheepish grin, stopping only to scoop Jack up off the floor once more. The dog was going to be his cuddle buddy for as long as he was at Charlotte’s house, he had already decided. “Bathroom’s open,” he announced. “Sorry I rushed in there before you got the chance. Should I start breakfast or wait for you?” It was her house, he would follow her lead.
------------------------------------------------------------------ OOC: let me know if I need to tweak anything, or if you wanted a chance for Charlotte to act or react before Cass rushed out of the bathroom lol

tell me how you reach the moon — my thoughts err away tonight ❝ Eggs and bacon I can do, he said, and Charlotte chuckled. Whatever he made them, she'd be grateful. Not a lot of men would have even stayed the night if they weren't getting anything more than just some making out, but Cass not only stayed, he had offered to cook. Perhaps there were still some good men out there, she thought. She was also curious what his hangover cure would consist of. She had seen more than enough videos of DIY hangover cures to know most of the time, the ingredients were absolutely disgusting, but maybe this kind stranger had a better recipe. For a moment she considered his 'offer'. What didn't happen last night, still could happen now, but on the other hand it would probably be nice to just be able to go to the bathroom without having company. She laughed while he disappeared into the bathroom. Charlotte sat down on her bad again and unlocked her phone, which had some battery now. Faye had messaged her. "Oh, fuck", she mumbled before her fingers started flying across the screen. sorry Faye, I'm fine, some guy brought me home, I should've said something before I left. hope you got home safe She was too old to have the auto capitalize turned off on her phone, but she wouldn't feel like herself is she suddenly started to start sentences correctly. She put her phone down again and looked up to see Jack waiting in front of the bathroom door. Charlotte shook her head while softly laughing. The dog was going to be sad for a couple of days when his new buddy left. She wished she could talk to animals so she could explain that Cass wasn't leaving him behind. Beep beep. Faye had messaged back. Biiitch is he cute?? She was just about to respond to the text message when the bathroom door opened. She turned her screen off and placed the phone on the nightstand. Cass walked back in with Jack in his arms and he announced that the bathroom was free. She smiled at the duo. "Jack is going to attempt to leave with you, you realise that, right?" She laughed but suddenly stopped. "Not that I'm kicking you out. You can stay a little longer, if you want." She got up from the bed and stretched her back a bit. Hmm. Should he start breakfast or wait for her? "Well...", she mused, “I was going to hop in the shower real quick. I think I spilled some drink on me yesterday. Perhaps you'd like to join?" Now it was her turn to wink. She stepped past Cass and Jack to make her way over to the bathroom, playfully fiddling with the rim of her T-shirt to hint at her taking it off. Cass Harlow ● no need to change anything! do let me know if I need to change anything though!

Jack wasn’t a tiny dog, but Cass didn’t care one bit, having picked up dogs much bigger many times before. Besides, he seemed delighted with the attention, and it wasn’t very fair that only little purse puppies got carried around all the time, when he was sure bigger dogs enjoyed it just as much. Jack especially, if the way his tail was wagging and thumping Cass’ back was any indication.
“You better keep an eye on him, because I might just let him leave with me,” Cass threatened jokingly, cuddling the dog closer and digging his fingers into the soft fur. He’d had dogs of his own before, but he’d never been able to keep them, for one reason or another. He had long ago concluded that he just had terrible luck with pets, and he’d stopped trying to keep them, to save himself from the heartbreak.
If he decided to get a place to stay in town, though, things might be different, and then maybe he could get a dog of his own again. If he was off the road, and he had a steady income, maybe his luck with pets might turn around.
“Or maybe we could exchange numbers, that way I could have playdates with my new best friend,” he muttered into Jack’s fur with a snicker, only half-joking to gauge her reaction.
When Charlotte winked at him, though, and asked if he’d like to join her in the shower, his small smile widened into a broad grin, and he gently placed Jack back on the floor.
“Hell yes,” he said enthusiastically. “We can wash each other’s back,” he bounced his eyebrows at her and went for the button in his jeans as he followed her into the bathroom eagerly.
While Cass did hook up with people a lot, he wasn’t really into the whole “hookup culture” side of it that he knew a lot of people participated in. For him, no hookup was ever just a hookup. He didn’t use people, and no matter how badly he might want physical closeness, or a comfy bed and a shower, he wouldn’t go home with someone if he didn’t genuinely like them.
He could see himself having a lot of fun with Charlotte, of all kinds, and he could definitely see them becoming very good friends. Possibly even friends with benefits, if she was into that. He didn’t think anything more was possible between them, though, because she wasn’t his type, relationship-wise; he needed someone a lot more… commanding. He’d been trying to break his habit of only going after edgy bad boys and bad girls, but that wasn’t a habit he thought he could break himself of. He wanted real love, he wanted a forever with someone, but that person would have to be someone that could boss him around and make him like it.
He didn’t know Charlotte well, but from what he knew of her, she seemed too sweet and gentle to be able to be that person for him.
Didn’t mean they couldn’t have some fun right now, though!
------------------------------------------------------------------ OOC: I'll let you decide what happens in the shower, because I don't want to assume anything, and Cass wouldn't assume anything either lol. As the woman, it's up to Charlotte XD. Fade to black hookup, or they actually just wash each other's backs, anything is fine with me (and Cass!). And, as always, let me know if I need to tweak anything.

tell me how you reach the moon — my thoughts err away tonight ❝ Although she knew it was a joke, she felt her stomach drop for a moment just thinking about someone taking Jack from her. Cass couldn't know, but Charlotte had rescued Jack from the shelter as a means to cope with... well, everything, really. Her parents didn't speak to her anymore since she had dropped out because of her addiction, and at first she had her brother, Alex, but ever since he got a kid, he had been spending a lot of time with Craig. She couldn't blame him for spending time with his own flesh and blood, but it still rubbed her the wrong way that all she got now were text messages and the occasional phone call. She truly hoped her disorder wouldn't cause her to start resenting her brother for having helped to bring Craig into this world. But Charlotte was able to remain cool on the outside and chuckled. The comment about exchanging phone numbers had her squinting a bit, with an amused smile. She wondered if he truly only wanted her number for playdates with Jack, or if he'd like to see her again as well. "I'll give you my number after that shower", she said. And so what if it was only for Jack? She certainly didn't mind her dog having friends. As long as his social life didn't get better than hers. That was a joke. Sorta. And at least he didn't turn down her offer to shower together. It had been a while since she had showered together with someone, and normally it was something that she considered a bit too much relationship-ish, but Cass had a comforting presence, which made her feel like he didn't just agree stick around her place to see if she would 'thank him' in a certain way for bringing her home safely. Either way, she wasn't one who would be easily pressured into doing something like that. She did what she liked, when she liked, and now, she felt like a shower and maybe some slippery bathtub/shower wall activities. "Oh you can definitely wash my back", she said suggestively. If only Charlotte could read minds. She was quite good at bossing people around and being commanding. In fact, it was in her nature. She just had gotten good at masking it, because she knew that if she acted like she truly wanted to, people would frown. That nature only peeked through when voicing what she did and didn't like, in any kind of situation, and especially in physically intimate situations. A lot of men didn't quite know what to do if they didn't get at least some instructions, and she wondered if Cass would be different. Only one way to find out. Once in the bathroom, she would get undressed and hop in the shower, which was like one of those bath-shower combinations, waiting a moment for the water to turn warm enough before she stepped into the stream coming from the showerhead. She elegantly held out her hand for him to hold it while stepping over the rim of the bath. If he stepped into the bath, she would start getting closer to him, to show him again why he thought she was a good kisser. [FADE OUT] Cass Harlow ● hope you don't mind me playing around with the timeline for the phone number! otherwise we'd be writing in the past and the present in the same time and that seemed kinda difficult. aaaand I'll leave what comes after the fade out to you in case Cass changes his mind haha!

He shucked his jeans and underwear casually and matter-of-factly onto the bathroom floor and toed off his socks, kicking the pile to one side so they wouldn’t trip over it when they got back out of the shower. Charlotte was a beautiful woman, and he didn’t hesitate to look his fill while she prepared the shower for them. He appreciated the hand she held out to help him into the tub, and he took it gratefully, shooting her a sweet, easy smile as he climbed in after her.
The water was the perfect temperature, and he backed into it as they kissed, drawing her with him under the spray.
*************
The water was cold by the time they finished their shower, but Cass didn’t mind, having enjoyed the heat while it lasted, not to mention what else he’d enjoyed.
He winced slightly as he climbed out of the shower; his knees were sore from kneeling on the hard floor of the tub, but he hadn’t even noticed at the time, and he didn’t regret a thing, now. It had been completely worth it. He couldn’t stop grinning.
He returned the favor Charlotte had offered earlier and held out a hand to help her out.
“I know I just ate and all,” he said suggestively, “but I sure worked up an appetite.” It was a terrible pun, but he couldn’t help himself. “You ready for breakfast?” He didn’t even question if she still wanted him to stick around at this point, confident that his performance had landed him firmly in her good graces, if he hadn’t already been there.
After they dried off, he wrapped the towel around his waist and snagged his clothes from the floor. He changed into the fresh boxers from his bag and pulled on his jeans from the night before, but shoved his dirty socks and shirt into the bag. Which meant he’d be going shirtless for now.
He noted how much like Charlotte he smelled—her soaps and shampoo, her skin and mouth, her fabric softener from the towel and the sheets, even the smell of her dog—and it was nice. It had been a while since he’d smelled like someone else so thoroughly. He didn’t realize how much he’d missed it, but he tried not to let it go to his head. Tried not to let himself get more invested than he should be, though he knew it was probably a losing battle.
“Still interested in that hangover cure?” he double-checked. She seemed like she was feeling fine, now, but that could just be the effects of a hot shower and a healthy dose of endorphins. She hadn’t puked on him in the shower, at least, which he’d admit to being the tiniest bit concerned about when they’d first gotten in. It wouldn’t have been the first time something like that happened to him.

tell me how you reach the moon — my thoughts err away tonight ❝ She shivered a bit once the deed was done and she was able to focus on the water again instead of on Cass. She followed behind him, smiling at him as she took his hand, making sure not to slip in the tub, and curled her toes into the soft fabric of the rug next to it. She had considered getting one of these white rugs that turned red when they came into contact with water, because it looked like a murder scene if you stood on it after a shower, but had decided against it because she wasn't sixteen anymore. Instead it was just a simply rug that matched the overall aesthetic of the bathroom. His little joke made her laugh, and she pushed a wet strand of hair behind her ear. She hadn't planned on getting her hair wet, but it was inevitable to get it a bit wet if you were going to have some fun in the shower. "Definitely ready", she replied. "It's kind of as if we were Hobbits, don't you think? Second breakfast, and all that." She had never watched Lord of the Rings, but she had seen enough memes to understand that Hobbits ate a lot. Her legs were a bit shaky and she looked down at them before sheepishly smiling at Cass. They dried off, and Charlotte returned to her bedroom, to grab some fresh clothes from her dresser. She couldn't help but smile while looking through it. Hook-up-culture was great and all that, but some sober fooling around was way better, and she had thoroughly enjoyed her shower with Cass. She grabbed a pair of underwear and a comfortable sport's bra. She then put on an oversized sweater that was long enough to cover her behind. She walked out of the room and noticed that Cass was wearing the jeans he had worn before, and no shirt. "Do you want something more comfortable to wear?" she asked, raising an eyebrow and chuckling. She hated wearing jeans after a shower. She quoted liked Cass, so far. He was nice, kind, and handsome. He hadn't been a selfish partner in the dance they had just performed, and apart from a few instructions, he had done quite well. She found herself wondering how his hugs felt, and if he was as comfortable and warm as he looked. It even made her blush a little when she realised what she was thinking about. Luckily he asked her a question and she could focus on that. "The hangover is getting better already, but it'd still like to try it. How can I turn down a cure that has its own name and everything?"She would start making her way down to the kitchen, humming softly and keeping herself from skipping all the way over there. A happy Charlotte was nice, but her emotions always seemed to work in extremes. Looked at the table and noticed her purse was on it. She must have put it on there last night. It wasn't a very girly purse. It was like one of those Carhartt purses. Charlotte wasn't very girly herself either. She had a difficult relationship with these that were considered girly, like heels, purses, and nail polish. She felt awkward wearing all of that. She found comfort in the indie girl style, and 80s/90s fashion. She stopped next to the fridge and opened it, getting the bacon and some eggs from it for Cass before looking at him. " "Take whatever you need for breakfast and your hangover cure", she said before putting the bacon and eggs down on the cupboard. Then, she filled Jack's bowl with food and watched as the dog speedwalked towards it before diving into his bowl. She patted him on the back and walked over to the table. She sat down and got her tobacco from the purse to roll a cigarette when she remembered what she had promised before their shower. "Oh! she exclaimed. "Let me give you my number. I'll put it in your phone, if you want." That cigarette could wait. @cassidyharlowe ● let me know if I need to change anything!

Charlotte offered him something to wear, which was sweet, but, “No thanks, I’m fine in my jeans. I’ll take a shirt, though, if you don’t want me walking around shirtless. If you have something that you think will fit me, that is,” he shot her a grin to go along with the words.
He noticed she had a cute little flush to her cheeks, but wasn’t sure if it was due to the heat from the shower, or something else. He admired it, but didn’t point it out, and nodded when she confirmed she still wanted to try his hangover remedy.
“You won’t be disappointed,” he promised with a wink.
Cass was fully in placating mode at this point, not wanting to do anything that might get him kicked out or rejected. It had been a great morning so far, but he was acutely aware that he was in Charlotte’s house, on Charlotte’s whim, and anytime she wanted she could tell him to leave. His confidence was waning, but he kept a smile on his face as he followed her down to the kitchen. He didn’t have any reason to feel so unsure; she had been perfectly sweet and welcoming so far. It was just that old nagging feeling of overstaying his welcome. The little voice telling him to be careful not to be too needy or clingy or he would freak her out. The expectation that he would be told to hit the road as soon as she was done with him, whenever that might be.
He knew he had until after breakfast, at the very least, so at least there was that.
Charlotte pulled out the food he’d agreed to cook and told him to help himself to what he needed from the kitchen. He did just that as she went to feed Jack, and then sat at the table.
He had just started searching through her cabinets for the things he needed when she spoke up again, reminding him about exchanging numbers.
“Oh, yeah, okay,” he pulled his old, outdated, cracked android out of his pocket and walked it over to her. It was unlocked by default, and he wasn’t shy about anything she might see on it, so he left it on the table in front of her and went back to what he was doing. “Have at it,” he said with a small grin. He didn’t know if she was the kind of girl to snoop through his phone, but he didn’t mind if she was. There were a few dirty pictures here and there—both his and other people’s—and his contacts list was miles long—something a girl had once told him was a red flag—but he was shameless and had nothing to hide.
Cass focused on concocting his hangover cure while Charlotte put her number into his phone. Luckily she had some sports drinks in one of the lower cabinets, which was the base for the cure. He poured a third of a bottle into her blender and stuck the rest in the fridge. He then threw in some ground ginger, lemon, banana, a big scoop of peanut butter, some orange juice, and started a bag of chamomile tea brewing to pour in as well. He topped it off with a 5-hour energy shot he’d grabbed from his bag, as well as a few other things, and then hit the button to blend, wincing at the noise and hoping it didn’t make her headache worse. He’d made just enough for her, since he didn’t need any himself, and when it was blended enough he searched her cabinets for a glass and poured it for her, placing it on the table in front of her with a small smile.
“The taste isn’t too terrible, and you’ll be feeling tip top in no time, so it’s worth it,” he promised. He’d only ever tasted the concoction a couple of times, mostly out of curiosity, since he seemed immune to hangovers, but he’d made it for friends and partners plenty of times, and he’d only ever heard good things. He just hoped she didn’t find the flavor too terrible. He’d had to make a few substitutions, but he was confident the result was almost as good as it normally was.
Once that was taken care of, he turned back to the stove, and the bacon and eggs that were waiting for him. He eyed the packages dubiously, wondering what had possessed him to offer to cook breakfast. Oh, right, Placating Mode. He was a terrible cook, but bacon and eggs was simple, right? He could handle it, for sure.
He carefully read the directions on the package of bacon, hoping he didn’t end up burning anything.

tell me how you reach the moon — my thoughts err away tonight ❝ She chuckled lightly and shrugged. "Oh, man, I wouldn't want to force you to wear clothes when you don't want to", she responded with a smirk. She got him one of her biggest oversized shirts, though, just in case he would want to put on a shirt. Charlotte never really minded if people were at her home. If her social battery ran out, they'd surely notice, but in her mind, it was the guest's problem but not hers. She didn't have an issue with being antisocial in company, unlike most people. Luckily, or surprisingly, Cass managed to keep her entertained, and she didn't feel like shutting down and hanging around her house in silence. She remembered that they were going to exchange phone numbers, and Cass gave him her phone. His phone had such a manly vibe to it. Slightly dirty, greasy screen, smudges, cracked and everything. As an Android user herself, she didn't have any trouble finding the contacts app, and she pressed the plus to add herself. Charlotte Lewis - cutest lay ever she wrote. A sly grin appeared on her face when she noticed the option to add a picture. She snapped a 'beautiful' selfie and selected it as the contact icon (minus the blue streaks in her hair). She also put her address in the address field, so he'd find her house again if he ever wanted to hang out with Jack, or her, again. She put the phone down and leaned her chin on her hand, as she watches Cass prepare the magical drink. The blender sounds weren't all too great, but she managed to survive. Surviving the monstrosity of a drink he put in front of her would be something entirely else. The look on her face didn't hide her emotions at all. She had to hold back her laughter, because it didn't look edible at all, but oh well, what was the worst that could happen? Charlotte brought the glass to her lips, a bit hesitantly, while Cass returned to the cooking. She shook a small sip, and when she noticed she was still alive, she took a bigger gulp. The taste wasn't great, but luckily Charlotte could block her nose without having to use her fingers to do so, and when your nose was blocked, you couldn't taste anything. "This is great! she said, lying through her teeth. For some reason she found herself not wanting to lie to Cass. He seemed sweet and a genuinely good person, and she didn't want to tell him the taste was bad. "Not familiar with cooking bacon?" she asked teasingly, noticing he was reading the instructions. "Want me to cook?" Charlotte wouldn't mind. She was still rolling a cigarette, when she got an idea. "You smoke weed?" she asked, bouncing her eyebrows a bit. It wasn't relapsing when you did it together, right? Cass Harlow — no worries! Apologies for disappearing and reappearing bhahaha!

He couldn’t help but laugh out loud at Charlotte’s face when he presented her with his hangover cure. She wasn’t hiding her doubt very well, and once she had a sip it was even worse as she claimed it tasted great, her voice slightly nasally as she obviously held her breath to block the taste.
“I didn’t say it tasted good, but I think it’s bearable,” he said snickering and shaking his head fondly. He debated whether to cook the bacon on the stovetop or put it in the oven. The package had directions for both, but he wasn’t sure which would be better.
When Charlotte teased him about his unfamiliarity in the kitchen he froze for half a second. “Is it that obvious?” He chuckled. But then she offered to do the cooking, and he shook his head immediately. “No, no, it’s fine! I said I’d do it, and I’m gonna do it.” He had a determined look on his face as he tore the package open, fumbling it slightly. A single slice peeled off and splatted onto the floor before eh could catch it, and he bent down and snatched it back up. “Woops,” he said, smiling sheepishly, putting the opened package on the countertop with the escaped piece on top of it.
He decided on cooking it in the oven, assuming that would be easier since he still had to cook the eggs, and he dug out a baking sheet and arranged the pieces messily on the surface, including the one that had fallen on the floor, not one for wasting food. He turned the oven on and popped the baking sheet inside on the bottom rack (without preheating it).
That done, he glanced up at Charlotte to see her rolling something. Cigarette or weed? As if reading his mind, she looked up and waggled her eyebrows at him, asking if he smoked weed.
“Shit, yeah,” he said with a little laugh. Most people didn’t even ask, they just assumed he did based on his appearance, and they wouldn’t be wrong. “Why? You got some?” He had a couple of joints in his bag, but it was the last of his stash; he’d yet to find a new reliable dealer since he’d been in the city. The last person he’d bought from had sold him bunk and upcharged him on it.
He pulled a pan out that he was pretty sure would be suitable for cooking eggs, and then eyed the carton dubiously. “Uh, how do you like your eggs?” he asked. That was a thing you were supposed to ask, right? He’d been asked that before, but he didn’t know how many ways you could make them, so he’d always told the asker to make them however it was easiest for them. Usually that meant scrambled. He was pretty sure he could accomplish scrambled eggs without burning them. That was one thing he’d cooked before. Bacon was a luxury he hadn’t often been able to afford, though.

tell me how you reach the moon — my thoughts err away tonight ❝ Apparently she hadn't been as good at hiding how she felt about the drink as she had thought. Luckily it made Cass laugh, instead of offending him. She chuckled a bit and shrugged. "Hey, well, maybe you've just gotten used to it!" Charlotte offered to help him cook because she noticed that he seemed unfamiliar with bacon, which was slightly funny to her because it was truly one of the easiest things to cook, but Cass was persistent and told her he was going to do it. Not even a minute later, a piece of bacon escaped from the package and fell on the floor. Before Cass was able to pick it up, Jack had ran over. The sky-wizards had decided to throw a piece of bacon down, and he wasn't going to let that gift get away from him. Jack then looked up at his new friend in hopes of him giving him another piece of bacon, now realising that it hadn't been wizards but Cass who was handing out bacon. Charlotte watched it with a smile on her face and if Cass was tempted to give Jack another piece, she would nod her head at him to give him permission to do so. He smoked weed, this was perfect. Charlotte's eyes twinkled a little, as if she was a teenager about to smoke pot for the first time ever. "I have some left, yes. I'll prepare dessert then, if you want." Sharing a joint after bacon and eggs in the garden sounded fun. The weather was quite nice, too. Cass had been able to figure out the oven for the bacon and he had found a pan for the eggs, which was great. Charlotte could feel her stomach rumble. "Can you do scrambled eggs?" she asked, not knowing it was the way Cass would ask for them as well. She liked scrambled because if she focussed too much on the texture if eggs, she would get nauseous. "You know what's funny?" She chuckled. "I really, really hate chicken. They scare me. But somehow I do like eggs, to some extent." While Cass finished up with the bacon and the eggs, Charlotte put down plates and cutlery for them. She filled a glass with water from the tap for herself before looking to her side, at Cass. "You want anything to drink? I have water and whatever is in the fridge, I saw you found the sports drink already."Cass Harlow ● let me know if I need to change anything! Hope my post provides enough to respond to^^
