[googlefont="Unica One"] [attr="class","joshdarkpost"] [attr="class","joshdarkpost-top"] ༻⋅ Weekend, Summer, Night ⋅༺[attr="class","wjoshpost"]Sweat glistened on her skin as the sound of her shoes scraping concrete filled the midnight air. She had just finished her barista job and simply headed home to bring Ringo out for a walk as well as give herself a workout. It was dangerous to jog at night, but it was different now that she had a guard dog. She had trained him to be quiet aggressive towards any male approaching her regardless of their demeanor.
Before she had to exercise at home, but it was such a burden with her mother constantly badgering her. Josuette slowed to a stop and took a drink of her bottled water, she poured some into a makeshift lid for Ringo, but he was uninterested. Instead his floppy ears perked upright and he gave a hearty growl.
Emerald eyes narrowed darkly towards a scene far in the distance of a woman with two hovering men. "Heel," she warned Ringo and he grew stiff not making a move until she gave the command. Crouching, she unhooked his harness and watched the scene for a moment longer to make sure it was harassment before she gave the order.
"Go," she hissed quietly and Ringo immediately launched forward, barking and snarling loudly to make his presence immediately known. Josuette rose to her full height and began to make her way down to where the woman was.
"F**k, f**k, f**k!" They hollered, dashing away in a frenzy as soon as they saw the vicious Pitbull. He gave chase, but stopped his demeanor completely changing as soon as Josuette called his name. "Ringo," she called out, and he turned heel tail raised and swaying as he bound towards her.
However, to her surprise, he didn't move to her hand to receive his praise, instead he made a beeline towards the stranger.

You romanticize the feast and famineParalyzed by fear of failing
Katrina rubbed her hands up and down her exposed arms in an attempt to fight off the goose bumps. The only noise she heard was the sound of her heels clicking against the concrete as she did her best to find her way back home or...somewhere. She felt hurt and confused and stupid. She thought those girls were her friends. So why would they just leave her like that? Maybe they had been looking for her? But they weren't answering any of her calls or texts. Not that it would matter now anyway. Her phone was dead and she hadn't been smart enough to bring her charger with her. Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! She wiped mascara stained tears from her cheeks as she took a shuddering breath. Overhead, thunder rumbled in the distance as drops of rain started falling from the sky. Of course it would start rain now. As if the night could get any worse. As her frustration and sadness grew it began raining a bit harder until she began hearing other footsteps behind her. Katrina didn't think anything of it at first. She'd never had to worry about what kind of dangers there were with walking alone at night. Though her sister had warned her plenty of times that she shouldn't do it Katrina had never experienced that kind of danger before. The footsteps behind her sped up and Katrina only assumed it was someone else trying to get out of the sudden rain. "Hey sweetie," a strangers voice made her jump as Katrina turned and realized there was a man standing next to her. "What's a pretty thing like you doing out this time of night?" "I-I um..." Her words caught in her throat as she realized another man had come up behind her as well. His hand pressed lightly on her waist and Katrina wanted to crawl out of her skin. "Not safe for a girl like you to be out here all on your own," the one behind her purred. Katrina whimpered as her dark eyes darted between them. Her body attempted to pull away, to curl in on itself so they'd stop touching her. "Please stop," though she tried sounding demanding her voice trembled and was barely above a whisper. "Stop? We're just trying to help you," the other insisted with a sickly sweet smile that made Katrina's stomach turn. "C'mon, our car isn't parked far, we can drive you where you need to go." Katrina shook her head quickly at their insistence. She looked to the ground, unable to keep looking at them with her hands against her chest. "I'm- I'm okay," she tried to insist but still her voice didn't sound as powerful as she wanted it to. Thunder rumbled again, a little louder this time. The sudden sound of a dogs vicious growling and barking caught all of their attention. "Oh fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" The two yelled before they quickly scrambled away. Seeming to forget all about Katrina who seemed white as a ghost now. Her heart felt like it was trying to pound out of her chest and her legs shook like they were ready to give out at any second. Which, thankfully there was a park bench behind her because they did. It was a little wet from the rain but she didn't care as she collapsed back onto it. She jumped at the sound of another voice, surprised she could hear anything over the blood pumping in her ears. Her eyes shot towards the woman before the strange dog trotted his way towards her. Tail wagging, seeming all too happy to see she was okay. "Hey, buddy," Katrina breathed out a sigh of relief with a chuckle. She took a deep breath and reached out to pet him before her hand stopped short. Katrina looked back to the woman she saw before as she sniffled. "Is this your dog?" She assumed it was if the woman knew his name. "Is it okay if I pet him?" With the panic of those two men slowly flooding out of her Katrina forgot all about how sad she was about being abandoned. The rain began to slow to a light trickle as she wiped more mascara streaks from her face.

[googlefont="Unica One"] [attr="class","joshdarkpost"] [attr="class","joshdarkpost-top"] ༻⋅ Weekend, Summer, Night ⋅༺[attr="class","wjoshpost"]Josuette's hand remained outstretched, her expression one devoid of emotion. But inwardly...she felt the burn of her only companion finding solace in another. Lowering her hand she drew her fingers into a light fist, but didn't allow anything to show. Instead she noted the rain droplets that had dampened the walkway leaving the distinct scent of wet pavement.
Blonde locks fell past her shoulder as she turned her head slightly, noting the dry concrete behind her. It was as though a small pocket of cloud rained briefly and allowed the smallest roar of thunder before vanishing.
"Hey buddy, is this your dog?" the black haired female spoke now perched atop a bench. Josuette looked to the other, she was a curvaceous woman, high heels, dangling jewelry and currently she was as pale as a ghost. "Is it okay if I pet him?" She asked, clearly finding comfort in Ringo's attention. He was at her knees, tail still swaying, mouth parted in a pant, his muzzle lined with scars.
"Why are you out here alone?" Josuette's tone was sharp, unyielding considering the situation, but that was because she felt bitter...bitter that Ringo had betrayed her. The two of them were alike, he was the only one like her. They didn't need anyone, not even each other, they just existed and benefited from one another.
...She realized now too late that she had formed a connection to him. It was a selfish one...because in the end who wanted to be like her? Living life never seeing others as anything but a nuisance.
ooc: Everything was perfect, gosh I didn't realize Josuette would react like this until I got into her character. TT_TT Don't worry if your reply is short. I fluctuate between big and short posts. Oh and I know Kat's hair is dark brown! But in the dead of night I figured it would appear black.

You romanticize the feast and famine Paralyzed by fear of failing While the sweet pup seemed excited about having scared off those creeps his owner, or who she assumed was his owner, did not. Katrina visibly flinched at bit at the tone of her voice. The smile the dog had brought her dropped and she grit her teeth at the urge to tear up again. "Um..." She said first with a stuttering breath. She sniffled and tried to think of an excuse that wouldn't make her look as stupid as she felt. but she couldn't really think of anything that was honest and didn't make her seem like a moron. "Some of my friends wanted me to go out with them tonight," she started to explain without being able to meet the other womans eyes. "I don't know if we got separated or if they...if they left me." Katrina swallowed down another urge to cry with a sniffle as she tucked some of her hair behind her ears. "But they weren't answering my texts or calls and now my phone is dead and they drove me out here so I didn't have another ride so I...I just started walking," she said with a shrug as she rubbed her hand back up and down her arm. There were so many other precautions she should have took. Katrina should have brought her charger, should have driven herself, should have probably carried some kind of protection with her. Things her sister had told her when she was younger but she hadn't even thought about. She'd just been so excited to be going out with friends. She thought they'd be safe together. That nothing would go wrong. The clouds above still hung dark and heavy. As if they might break open at any moment. They blocked out the stars and light of the moon. Leaving them only bathed in the street lights along the path. Katrina knew vaguely which way she was going. At least by street signs she knew she could eventually find her way home. Though that would still be a while away and she'd have blisters all over her feet walking all the way home in her heels. "I tried waiting for them for an hour but they never showed up," her voice was quieter in an attempt to hide the hurt in her tone. Thankfully the air wasn't chilly enough to make her shiver much. Even after being slightly damp from rain. "Um...thank you, and your dog, for helping me though," she said as she finally worked up the courage to look up at the other woman again. Katrina attempted to offer a warm and grateful smile but it didn't quite meet her dark eyes. Tag: @josh

[googlefont="Unica One"] [attr="class","joshdarkpost"] [attr="class","joshdarkpost-top"] ༻⋅ Weekend, Summer, Night ⋅༺[attr="class","wjoshpost"]The female immediately flinched as though struck down by such a brazen reply. Her faltering smile calmed Josuette's ire because in the end...the only one to blame for the bitter taste of betrayal was herself. She shouldn't have allowed herself to become attached.
"Um," the girl replied, and like a wounded animal she opted to cast her gaze to the ground as she strained with the humiliation of her story. But no matter where she looked, she couldn't hide because she read like an open book.
"Some of my friends wanted me to go out with them tonight. I don't know if we got separated or if they...if they left me. But they weren't answering my texts or calls and now my phone is dead and they drove me out here so I didn't have another ride so I...I just started walking," she gave a light shrug, clearly not wanting to say anything bad about her so called friends. Josuette tilted her head slightly, as she mutely listened, briefly looking to Ringo as he let out a sigh of impatience.
"Um...thank you, and your dog, for helping me though." She finished, not forgetting her manners and even braved making eye contact with her.
"You should pet him," she gestured slightly with her chin towards the black and white Pitbull. "He's waiting for your praise," she added with hidden mockery in her tone, but it wasn't directed towards the stranger, it was for herself. "As for your friends," she supplied dryly. "They're trash. You should replace them." It was such a blunt statement, but it was the truth...and one the woman in front of her would never be able to follow.
The stranger had portrayed herself as nothing but a victim. A bigger girl who gave the illusion of confidence from her attire, but in the end it would always be her friends who convinced her to wear those heels.
Josuette scoffed openly through her nose, a smirk reaching her eyes when Ringo practically bounced on his paws like a newborn pup from the pets he was given. In all the years she had known him...she had never seen him so happy. Why did this girl make him seem so...free?
"Give me your number," she suddenly ordered, her own confidence surpassing most as she withdrew her phone and readied her contact list. Emerald eyes soon riveting to the benched girl expectantly.
ooc: I went ahead with the scene of Kat petting Ringo, if she doesn't end up doing that, it's fine I'll take that part out of my post. \o/

You romanticize the feast and famine Paralyzed by fear of failing If she were being honest Katrina was waiting for the woman to laugh at her. To call her stupid or childish or say how she got herself in this situation. Instead though she mentioned being allowed to pet the dog. She turned her eyes back to the sweet boy who looked up at her with those big dark eyes. Ears perked, tail wagging, waiting ever so patiently for her to give him affection for his hard work. Katrina couldn't help but smile again. "Who's a good boy?" She asked sweetly as she used one hand to pet his head and behind his ears while the other scratched under his chin. Though the mention of her friends and how they were trash made her smile falter a bit again. There was a knee jerk reaction to defend them. To say they weren't trash and make some excuse as to why she was walking home alone after they were the ones that brought her out here. But she kept her mouth shut. Because defending their actions now would only make her seem more stupid and gullible. Instead she kept her focus on petting the dog. Who seemed so happy just to have her attention. It was such a sweet, stark difference from the growling, snapping, and barking he'd been doing. "Who's a big, scary boy, huh?" She cooed sweetly as he seemed to excitedly bounce from paw to paw at her affection. "That's right! You are!" At least focusing on the dog helped her feel better. The clouds above them began to part slightly. Opening up slivers of the night sky. At the ask, or more so demand, for her number Katrina paused and looked up at the woman in shock. Should she really just give her number out like that? Wasn't that a bad idea? But this woman had been nice enough to help her. And hadn't made fun of her or anything. "Uh...yeah okay," she said as she stood up. Unsure if she wanted her to type it in her phone or say it out loud. "My names Katrina, by the way," she mentioned as she remembered her manners. [googlefont="Unica One"] [attr="class","joshdarkpost"] [attr="class","joshdarkpost-top"] ༻⋅ Weekend, Summer, Night ⋅༺[attr="class","wjoshpost"]It was strange to realize that the girl had been waiting entirely for her permission. Most people touched dogs without thought, although in Ringo's case...that never ended well. The patch of clouds clearing above them went unnoticed by Josuette, but she heard the sound of passing cars beyond the rustling leaves that filled the park.
The touch of nature was an illusion, but she didn't mind the industrial feel of the city. It was beautiful in its own way especially during the later hours when the city remained awake...but just barely. It allowed her to keep busy, for an idle mind left time to dwell on the hollowness that resided inside of her.
Unconsciously, the stranger and Ringo became lost to her presence. It was like watching a scene from a movie, one she had no part of. But she was no longer chained by the feeling of betrayal because her fleeting connection had vanished. Ringo wasn't like her...and it was fine.

Dark eyes lifted from where she sat, catching the glow of a nearby streetlight that made them appear more intricate in color. "Uh...yeah okay," she concluded after thinking it over. At least she had hesitated instead of just...agreeing. "My names Katrina, by the way," she offered after standing, her hands positioned in a way that let Josuette know she was willing to add herself.
"...His names Ringo," she gestured towards the Pitbull. "He's a rescue dog and he hates most people, curious that you aren't one of them." A brief and subtle look of amusement flickered over her eyes as she looked to the attentive canine.
"My name..." she began letting her words linger in the air as she looked down the street to where the two men from before lurked. "...Isn't important." She returned gesturing for her to follow. "I'll call you an Uber and make sure you get home safely."

You romanticize the feast and famine Paralyzed by fear of failing "Hi, Ringo," she cooed sweetly as the woman let her know the sweet boys name. Hearing that he normally hated all other people made her smile a bit brighter and warmer. "Well, whatever the reason I'm glad for the help," she said sweetly as she turned her eyes back to the other woman. Though it seemed a bit odd that she didn't want to give her own name though. Katrina didn't push. She simply placed her own name and number in the womans phone. If she decided to call her about anything then maybe he could learn her name later. There was a wave of relief that washed over her as the woman said she'd call her an uber. That was a hell of a lot better than trying to walk all the way back him. Especially in her heels. And she was still pretty shaken up over what happened with the two men that had been harassing her. She didn't even want to think about what could have happened had Ringo not run in and scared them off. "Thank you," she said with a grateful twinkle in her dark eyes. One might think she was still being all too trusting. Having just been harassed by two strangers here she was giving her number to another and letting her help her home. But Katrina was certain the woman wouldn't have helped her if she just wanted to hurt her. As well as the aspect of getting home in the near future was far too appealing to just throw away now. "I'm really glad you two came walking by when you did," she said as she readjusted the strap of her purse higher on her shoulder. "Is there anything I could do to thank you for helping me?" Katrina felt more than a little guilty for interrupting her night. Tag: @josh
