WELCOME TO LOS EUROSIA,
NELL DOE SHEPHERD
"a thousand years in perfect symmetry, a thousand years of getting rid of me"
BASICS
NAME: Nell Doe Shepherd
AGE: 24
BIRTHDATE: 10/10/2000
PRONOUNS: She/her
SEXUALITY: Bisexual
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Single
OCCUPATION: Wildlife Rehabilitation / Bartender
NEIGHBORHOOD: East End
MEMBER GROUP: Gifted
POWERS: Healing & Regeneration
Nell is able to heal herself and others from a considerable amount of damage. However, time frame and extent of damage are important and it's a roll of the dice whether she can properly heal someone or something all the way. This is evidenced by the chronic pain she deals with after trying to repair her own injuries. There's always a chance of some lasting pain after she heals.
Regeneration is even more risky and very much a crapshoot. Organs are tricky, even with magic, and so she's dedicated her time to improving and learning more about anatomy and science through extensive schooling. This education - while helpful - does not make up for her limited capacity.
This is why her powers work best on animals, small ones specifically. Nell has yet to try her luck with humans except in emergency situations.

OVERALL PERSONALITY: Nell is social, friendly, and she's got a brain that just does not know how to quit. Really. It just does not shut up. Humor is a coping mechanism that she's fine tuned to help her through even the most stressful of social situations, but when she's alone, things get a little more difficult to deal with. So she hates being alone.
Nell is very kind and gentle. She has a rather calming aura about her, and can soothe most people and pokemon with her presence. She's also very sensitive, especially when animals don't like her. Whenever this happens she tries her best to make up for whatever offense she committed.
That's not to say she doesn't have her fire. She's passionate, and impulsive, and not known to think before she acts. She's matured since those days, but people who knew her when she was younger remember her as a spitfire.

HISTORY: CW animal death, descriptions of gore, mental illness
I. GORE
Nell wants to say that her past is not important. It's not the kind of thing you talk about in conversation, the kind of thing brought up casually. If it was up to her, she'd rather forget it all together.
What she will say is this: when she first figured out that she was different, it was when she found nearly-roadkill. A rat that had been run over by a car.
Except, when she bent down to look at it and poke it with a stick (she was seven, and she was a weird kid) what was left of its little heart started beating. And it seemed to stitch itself back together, fur weaving back over entrails, muscle and sinew all stitched back together. It scurried away, quick as can be, and she was left crouched by the side of the street.
-- INTERMISSION
It's not something that a lot of time should be spent on, because it's kind of messed up, but when you figure out that you can repair living things like a mechanic repairs cars, nearly back from the point of death, well - it makes you try some crazy things.
Imagination can take care of the rest.
II. THE STITCH
Here's a little preview of Nell's life. Foster homes, psychiatrists, medication. She doesn't think it's worth getting into, honestly. She thinks that it's the kind of experience most people have. It's shocking, then, when she graduates high school and figures out that some people have completely functional lives. They have both their parents, they don't take pills for anything except headaches, and they don't feel like they're floating outside their bodies.
Nell can't even imagine what it's like, but she tries to pretend.
She's tried to be a musician. She's tried to be a writer. She's tried to be a girlfriend. In the end, she doesn't feel like anything fits quite right.
She's tried to be normal. It's like shopping for clothes but none of them are her size.
3. REGINERATION
She's in Los Eurosia now for a few reasons, mostly her great aunt who died and made her executor, the house she's inherited, and being executor to a family who doesn't very much like her or that she's the one in charge of doling out inheritances. Which is fair; she has plenty of reason to fuck them over. They're lucky that the only thing she's held onto so far is this old journal she found.
It's been strange. She didn't really know her great aunt, and her mother's side of her family made clear their hate for her as her father's daughter. And as she sorts through what's left behind, she's also sorting through the history that's led to this, and why she's always felt unwanted and undesired.
As it stands now, while she has a degree in veterinary medicine, she is furthering her education as well as bartending by night because taking care of hawks that don't appreciate it just doesn't pay the bills.
