Assumed ending: Noah starts to get tired and, disliking the concept of sleeping in a near-stranger's home even if she did help him, he forces himself to leave.

Tawny nearly drowns but luckily Noah is there to pull her ashore. She accidentally deletes the rescue mission from his recollection (allowing him to borrow her gift) and once in the warm and dry of his home they discuss their abilities and test out how well Noah can use hers. It’s all going pretty well until Tawny glimpses a murder in his memories. The friendly atmosphere crumbles. Killing her seems like the obvious way to guarantee her silence but… viewing her past has humanised her. He can’t bring himself to do it. Instead, he sends her off in an Uber with the threat of harming her loved ones if she ever tells. Later, she leaves the clothes she borrowed and a note with her phone number attached on his doorstep.

Dane gets a pretty bad cut on his leg while hunting a target, and ducks into an apartment complex when the cops turn up. Noah, who happens to be in the same building due to an 'investigation', breaks into a woman's apartment and invites Dane inside so he can sew up the wound. It's not long before Dane discovers a man tied up in the woman's bathtub - the elusive 'Ray Donovan' - a Guild target with a high price on his head. So Dane does the sensible thing and kills him, revealing to Noah that he's a hunter, and Noah reveals that he's gifted when he borrows Dane's gift of summoning. Noah's own attempt at summoning a furry friend does not go well, and the two men part ways shortly thereafter.

Though understandably a little startled to see him, she lets him in and Noah has a great time meeting her pets, letting slip that he never followed through on the threats he made, and thirsting over his host in general. They learn a little more about each other through questions and games and they kiss! But when Noah tries to entice Tawny into doing more, he fails (just a bit too drunk for her to feel comfortable taking advantage of him) and although wary of what memories of his she might see in her dreams, they cuddle up and fall asleep in her bed together.

Despite a headache and some nausea, the morning starts well enough with Noah waking up to Tawny's face and memories of the night before. Unfortunately, he soon makes it awkward by suggesting they could be somewhat-exclusive-fooling-around-'buddies'. Tawny isn't up for it and Noah pretends he isn't devastated. They have breakfast, with Noah experiencing some intense (by his standards) mood swings, torn between wanting to leave without ever looking back and wanting to make Tawny completely his by whatever means possible, and he leaves with one last kiss that he intentionally gives in front of Tawny's neighbour so he can pass it off as a 'prank'.

Dane gives Noah a better understanding of The Guild and of his home life, and lets Noah borrow his gift for a while. The mysterious tracking gift that keeps falling into his lap is simply an annoyance, until the girl who injured him over a year ago crosses his mind and the gift allows him to immediately know her location. He finds the girl, Seth, alone in the woods and is pleased when she bolts at the sight of him. He chases after her, and when she uses her gift on him he's able to steal it and use it on her in return - but is nowhere near as accurate with it. He gives up on using her power and draws his knife instead to extract his revenge the old fashioned way, but when she loses enough blood to pass out, he quickly scoops her up and makes a mad dash back to his car. The intent wasn't to kill her, after all.

Noah rushes Seth to his home to sew up her wound (that he inflicted) and thankfully she survives the blood loss. Later, after she wakes up, he acts apologetic and convinces her that the whole thing was a misunderstanding; that he thought she was a hunter since she had attacked him the previous year. He gives her a change of clothes and lets her use his shower, and after hearing about her current living situation and the circumstances that put her in them, he decides she should stay in his home for a few weeks while she heals. He leaves her to rest.

Noah is very intrigued by Felix and comparing him to a cat swiftly becomes one of Noah's favourite things. After exploring Laurel's apartment the boys figure out that she was taken to a warehouse in Los Eurosia, and they end up going there and killing her abductors to rescue her. As all had sustained injuries, they go to a Blackstorm healer's house and Noah is pleased to be able to heal Felix himself. They leave after having some cookies and Noah is happy to get a look at Felix's home, though he's less happy to bump into Felix's cousin, Rowan, who has the gift of empathy. Noah manages to fall asleep for a while in Felix's bed, but wakes again and quickly excuses himself once Felix returns from walking his dog, not truly comfortable with staying the night in a near-stranger's home.

But the scientist is strongly against the idea, and when two teens interrupt their meeting the men end up murdering them to ensure it stays secret (and maybe because Noah is a loose cannon and doesn't know the meaning of chill). Before departing Acker sets his robot dogs on Noah to rough him up and make Blackstorm leave him alone, leaving Noah with ripped clothes and a dead body to dispose of.
