Portal Jumpers

Gotham was a big city. There was a charity event at Wayne Manor. In another part of town henchmen were shooting the breeze waiting for their boss. The Iceberg Lounge was entertaining its costumers with great music and better food. The Arkham Asylum was probably going to welcome new unexpected guests soon.
Acker was swimming in his pool as part of his training regime, mens sana in corpore sano and all that, when suddenly he felt a strong current pulling him underwater. A hole had opened on the pool's floor, or better, a portal. Acker fell through the portal and into another pool. He wasn't the only one falling into portals. All around Los Eurosia portals leading to Gotham City were materialising.
Acker instinctively opened his mouth to scream, but all it did was making him lose that little of breath he had managed to keep in. The portal closed and Acker quickly swam up. He moved his head backwards and took a deep breath, too bad he didn't have long hair to swing around.
His coughs were echoing, his eyes blinking. Acker was wearing contact lenses, those were his glasses sans glasses. Acker couldn't train most days of the week, so he had a training regime in which he would exercise intensely for an entire day, but he couldn't wear his glasses during that day hence he had to create the contact lenses he was wearing.
"Connect to...?" that was odd because that message would only appear during first time connections "Wayne Tech?" he had heard of that one before somewhere "Where am I? What's happening?" he was inside a pool, but it was caged and there cables twirled around the metal bars.
The lenses, thanks to his power, had finally managed to connect to the local network, but Acker couldn't believe the data the lenses were showing him "Gotham City?!" that fictional town? His incredulous tone echoed in the room. But, there was someone with an even more incredulous expression on his face standing in front a bunch of screens.
'Scanning' the man was wearing glasses and he had an innocent face 'Connecting to Arkham Asylum's database...' Acker could feel his power spreading like a web "Who are you? How did you...?" the man was as shocked as Acker 'Edward Nashton, former forensic accountant, alias the Riddler, escaped from Arkham Asylum, current whereabouts unknown' oh, the Riddler was right there.
Edward looked behind him when he noticed Acker staring at the screens. On the screens there were elegant women and men mingling in a mansion, it looked like some kind of party. Like a charity event in a certain Wayne Manor, but Acker couldn't know that.
Edward turned the screens off, Acker had to fight the urge to will his power to turn the screens back on. Acker kept thinking of a way out. His power connected to the mechanism keeping the cage closed. Suddenly there was a noise, like someone falling. Another portal jumper?
Edward glanced at Acker before going to check it out, after all he believed Acker to be trapped. No time was wasted, Acker opened the cage and got out of the pool then he quickly walked towards the screens, his power turning them on. Some of the screens were showing footage from security cameras recording this place and one camera was recording someone coming out of a portal.
This place looked like an abandoned public pool building, or a public gym. It was huge, but it had been barricaded and it had been decaying due to years of neglect. It seemed to be located in an impoverished side of town that even the most poor stayed away from.
While Acker was standing in front of the screens, his lean body soaked in his swim shorts and a puddle of water forming under him; Edward had found the portal jumper. He had picked up a weapon on the way "Who are you?" he pointed the gun at the new intruder. The gun looked like a makeshift teaser gun which had been tampered by the Riddler.
Meanwhile in the manor, Alfred had noticed someone who wasn't in the guest list. He quickly walked to them, worried that it could be some paparazzi who had managed to elude security "You are not supposed to be here, if you leave willing then there won't be any charges of trespassing" Alfred couldn't know that this someone had just come out of a portal.
