Franklin had forbidden Acker from stepping into the restaurant before it was ready because he didn't want his older brother to have an unfair advantage. Frank had explained to Acker that seeing the restaurant before the charity event was an unfair advantage. He would have sent his assistant to recon the area, but unfortunately he was away on business.
Acker would have made sure to pick the assistant as the random date, so that he wouldn't have to deal with a random date. Unfortunately, that wasn't an option. So, Acker was dreading the coming of Valentine's Day. He had tried to get out of it, but he was a Villin so he had to participate.
Frank genuinely believed that he was doing Acker a favour because the little brother was the normal one with a happy social life, so it made him sad that his older brother seemed friendless and without a significant other. Let's just say that Frank, and the rest of the family, had been very surprised to learn that Acker and his assistant weren't in a relationship. But, that was the problem, Acker wasn't in any kind of relationship: friendly or romantic.
Acker was aware that his little brother made him participate to this atrocity because he cared, so that was why the older Villin wasn't hating the younger Villin, but he surely was annoyed. Frank wanted complete control over the charity, so he had even chosen Acker's suit, luckily it looked good on the mad scientist. It was a red and black elegant suit, unfortunately he couldn't wear his black gloves and the glasses were also off because Frank knew that Acker could see in the dark with those.
Frank was waiting for Acker in front of the restaurant "Look at you, Nik! You look great in that suit!" Acker rolled his eyes "How convenient that my date won't be able to see it Franklin winked "Too bad your assistant won't be able to see you in it" Franklin used a tone that implied there was something more there. Acker frowned. Had the assistant come back and organised something with Franklin under his radar? Not that Acker could blame his employee, the assistant had to keep the family on his good side.
The older Villin shook it off and moved on "Let's just get this over with, at least mother will be thrilled with the donations for the blind charity fund" Acker entered the restaurant which was already in total darkness. The restaurant had a giant bird cage in which a blind musician was skilfully playing the piano.
Acker was accompanied to a table and sit down. He already hated this. Dating wasn't his scene, basically no experience on the matter, he was feeling very uncomfortable about this. It helped thinking of this as a business dinner, he had experience with those.
The restaurant was adjacent to another room in which the games would take place later. There were night vision cameras to record the charity event. Waiters and waitresses were escorting the various random dates to the tables.
Acker was dreading the moment his date would be escorted at his table.
