WELCOME TO LOS EUROSIA,
CHRISTIAN SAVINO
"Drift, drift away, cause I'll be here either wayThere's nothing you could say to make me go
I will always be your ride home"
BASICS
NAME: Christian Savino
NICKNAME(S): Officer Savino, Sav, Vino (will never, ever respond to Chris/Chrissy and will instantly despise anyone who calls him such)
AGE: 24 years old
-------> Aged up to 25 (05/28/23)
-------> Aged up to 26 (05/28/24)
BIRTHDATE: May 28 (Gemini)
PRONOUNS: He/Him
SEXUALITY: Homosexual
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Single
OCCUPATION: Patrol Officer for LE PD
Most of Christian's family is involved in the sector of Public Service in some way. Doctors, nurses, paramedics, firefighters, pilots, etc. He is the only one who went into Police work, however, and it was something his brothers and father always thought he would be too soft and unequipped for.NEIGHBORHOOD: The Heights
MEMBER GROUP: Human
Christian is the baby of his family and the only one of five boys born Giftless. His parents and four older brothers possess an array of healing/regenerative abilities, heightened resistances, superhuman strength/reflexes, etc., but the Savino "legacy" seemed to pass him over.
Unknown to everyone, Christian does possess latent powers (force field generation and healing) that have remained dormant all his life. Sometime (way down the line), these powers may manifest and come to light if he is put into a particularly desperate/helpless position.
THE LOOKS
HEIGHT: 6'0''
WEIGHT: ~180lbs
HAIR COLOR: Brown
EYE COLOR: Brown
FACE CLAIM: Rafael Silva
OVERALL APPEARANCE:
At every Savino dinner or celebration, it seems there's always some teasing relative that will pat Christian's cheek or take his face in their hands and ask after his lack of a significant other. "You're just such a handsome boy," they insist scandalously, before listing off all the single men they know in their neighborhood, prospective sons of family friends, or the "probably gay" barista in a nearby coffee shop.
While a little tactless — and more than a little tiring — these nosy aunts and nagging grandmothers aren't wrong. Christian is a pretty man, with large puppy-dog eyes (the color of bitter coffee), a wide, dimpled smile, and a youthful appearance. He's toned and muscular, always crisp and clean, and takes care of his body well. He also knows how to dress well, with always well-fitted clothing (sometimes even tailored if it's a particularly fancy night).
Mostly, he keeps his dark brown hair close-cropped with the sides shaved down, but occasionally the top can grow out and get a bit floofy/curly between cuts. He's typically clean-shaven, is religious about showers, skin care, and smelling nice, and overall maintains the distinction of someone very conscious about their appearance; a man who isn't afraid to spend more than five minutes in front of the mirror every morning.
Typically, Christian is very expressive and unable to keep emotions (the good and the bad) from twisting his features. Usually unable to curb a wide, beaming grin and equally incapable of hiding a flash of jealousy, skepticism, or dislike.

OVERALL PERSONALITY:
In uniform and "on the job", Christian makes a competent officer. He's capable of asserting himself, unafraid to be firm, and can expertly toe that fine line between unassuming and authoritative. While he prefers to be gentle and patient with most people he talks to or apprehends, he can certainly perceive when someone's trying to take advantage of this courtesy and knows when to buckle down and demand instead of suggest. While he is more than willing (and would very much prefer) to be that cool, understanding, and likable officer, he is also prepared to be hard and forceful should the situation demand it.
Out of uniform and in his personal life, Christian is notably less confident. Growing up, he's always been the "different" one or the "odd one out", and this has nurtured a bit of him that never quite feels comfortable expressing how he feels or what he wants. Like most of his family, he's inherently generous and big-hearted but — perhaps because he was the "baby" and perceived as being softer than his brothers for possessing no resilient Gift — he has a strange tendency to sometimes despise seeming too gentle or too kind. Because of this, even though he's undeniably tenderhearted (and a romantic idealist to boot), he can sometimes hesitate to be openly and honestly compassionate. He will often keep things internalized instead or think but not act on any sympathetic impulse he has.
He is a bit better about this when in the company of friends. He can be openly warm and caring to those people he feels already know him well. But, even among his own circle, he remains somewhat thin-skinned (something that frustrates him to no end). He tries hard to seem as if he doesn't take a lot to heart (going so far as to encourage others to take things "more lightly"), but he's never been the type to easily brush something off. Even the most trivial of comments or jabs of endearment can stay with him and fester. And when it comes to arguments, disagreements, or full-blown confrontations, Christian has the immature tendency to simply... refuse to partake. He's much more likely to turn away, storm off, and leave someone in the cold. Ignore the whole thing rather than seek resolution/amends.
But even if you've quarreled with him recently, he'll be there for you in the blink of an eye, should you need him. Although stubborn and cold in the midst of a personal conflict, he is capable of dropping grudges at the drop of a dime, should he come to realize how much the other party is hurt or hurting. He has an innate sense of when people (especially those close to him) are in particular need of support and in such moments, he will rise to task — like the fickle cat who clawed its way from your arms hours before, nudging into your palm when you're feeling your most lonely and empty.
BACKGROUND
HOMETOWN: Los Eurosia, CA
FAMILY:
All alive, all Gifted, all living in Los Eurosia. The Savinos (and their various offshoots) are all very family-oriented and boast many get-togethers and celebrations. They all ask about one another and are very much involved/interested in each others' lives. There's no wiggling free or flying under the radar and it's not uncommon that a grandma, aunt, or cousin will pop by Christian's apartment just to bring him a meal (and be nosy, asking about significant others and whatnot).
Listed below is Christian's immediate family only. He has a great number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces as well.
Oscar Savino (Father - Retired Firefighter Captain)
Alma Savino (Mother - General Practitioner)
Alexander Savino (Brother - General Practitioner)
Adrian Savino (Brother - Paramedic/EMT)
Lionel Savino (Brother - Firefighter)
Mateo Savino (Brother - Pilot)
PETS:
None. Growing up, he considered himself a dog person, as there were often dogs in his family home (always small, yippy things like Yorkies and Chihuahuas). He tried owning a dog himself when he first moved out of his parents' house but quickly found that he didn't have the time nor energy to give it the attention it really deserved. Feeling bad, he rehomed it. So, while he likes dogs, he doesn't consider himself a good enough owner to want to adopt one.
HISTORY:
Christian's parents were both second-generation immigrants, well-educated and raised in hardworking, largely-harmonious homes. Their parents were Brazil transplants who settled in Los Eurosia young and planted their roots deep; raising large, beautiful families who never seemed to possess any desire to leave the city. Both sides of the family possessed arrays of Gifts that they embraced and celebrated among themselves, always feeling obligated to put them to use for the better of everyone around them. They were known for their dedication to their community and a large number of them went into public service in some way.
Oscar and Alma, like their parents before them, married young. They had five sons, of which Christian was the last. Even from the beginning, Christian seemed hell-bent on being different. He was the only one of the Savino children, not only among his brothers but also among his many cousins, who never manifested an ability. He also knew quite young that he wasn't into girls (which wasn't as big of an issue as it might have been, if he'd been the eldest son or an only-child, depended on to provide his mother grandbabies).
Growing up, Christian was always a soft boy, something that left him a bit "on the sidelines" in his childhood. His brothers were a troublesome, hardy crew — all of them Gifted with some form of physical resistance, regenerative ability, enhanced strength/reflexes, etc — and, as much as Christian tried to be a part of the fun growing up, he was oft teased (or straight up ignored) for not being resilient enough to hang. Not only was he the youngest, but he couldn't fix himself up when things got rough or shake off a blow/tumble like it was nothing. He was never able to give as good as he got either. He was treated relentlessly as the "baby" of the group, even by his parents who worried and fussed over him anytime he got hurt.
Still, his youth was a relatively easy, pleasant, and privileged one. Even though he felt small and sidelined among his brothers, his extended family meant he was never without a "favorite cousin" and he never truly felt alone or neglected. Just underestimated (and perhaps a bit lacking) when measured against the bunch. In public school, the Savino pack of kids were scattered among all cliques, varied enough in age to always leave a foothold for the siblings/cousins that followed them. It seemed there was a Savino or two in every graduating year — class presidents, jocks, nerds, cheerleaders, stoners, you name it — and they were as tight-knit at school as they were at home. So Christian was never necessarily bullied or unliked. He made friends easily and was a model student but never did impress upon anyone as much as some more outspoken, more shining-star, Savinos.
His brothers mostly followed in their parents' footsteps. Like Alma, the eldest brother went into premed to become a doctor. The middle brothers became firefighters/paramedics and worked alongside their father (a well-respected firehouse captain) until he eventually retired. Mateo, the youngest of the older brothers, somewhat broke the mold by becoming a pilot. It was almost expected of them, given their Gifts, and all of them were accomplished and decorated naturals, bragged upon highly. Christian didn't have these expectations put on him, however. Being Giftless, he wasn't "called to a higher purpose" or pressured to offer himself in service to their community. He could have worked a dinky fast-food job all his life or become a wandering, romantic poet, and his parents would have been proud of him. Seen this as fitting. In their own way, they kind of encouraged him to pursue a menial and "safe" job.
And it was perhaps because of this, that he enrolled in the Police Academy. None of his brothers or cousins went into police work, so he saw it as a way to serve his community without having to live in another Savino's shadow. His parents weren't happy, scared for him as they were. While his brothers could put their lives on the line daily, Christian didn't possess their resilience. Didn't have their Gifts to keep him safe. But Christian was adamant and stubborn in proving himself and became a competent and proficient officer regardless.
He currently has no ambitions of rising in the ranks or becoming a detective, lieutenant, or anything higher than a patrol officer. He has always felt his place is on the streets, dealing directly with the citizens of Los Eurosia. Knocking on doors, responding to wellness checks, investigating disturbances, making arrests, directing traffic, and just generally keeping the public safe. He is happy and fulfilled in his job and feels it as much of a vocation/calling as any Savino.
