I'm Aimee. I’m currently 35 years old, and I've been play-by-post role playing since I was 12 (yikes). I started out in Harry Potter AU, and usually stick to gifted/metahuman, slice of life, or post-apocalyptic settings now. I ran a post-apoc site from January 2012 - May 2019. Sometimes I miss it, but it was just too much to keep up with when I became a 911 operator in 2017. [break][break]

That brings me to work… I’m a 911 operator / fire department dispatcher / trainer and I work a weird schedule with 12 hour shifts and a lot of overtime, so sometimes I’m really slow, but I’m always down for plotting, even if it has to wait a bit. [break][break]

I also dabble in D&D, and I play some video games. Right now it's mostly Call of Duty (sometimes I just have talk shit and be mid, okay?), BG3, FFXIV, and Minecraft. I also play Diablo IV, Sims4, Stardew Valley, and Animal Crossing sometimes. [break][break]

I’m here for angsty and emotional plots, as well as fun and fluff. I’m pretty flexible and chill so if you have any ideas feel free to throw them at me.

Maddie is a Los Eurosia native. She grew up moving from apartment to apartment in East End every few years. She and her brother, Mason, were raised by alcoholic parents who couldn't quite get their act together. As soon as she was old enough, she began working as a server, and that has sustained her enough to get her own apartment and make a decent life for herself in the East End. [break][break]

Maddie has power negation and power sensing. She sometimes feels like she doesn't have a useful power, nothing like her brother who has superhuman senses and reflexes. Since she doesn't have a power that would affect anyone who is not gifted, she easily blends in with humans.[break][break]

Maddie doesn't trust easily enough to develop a lot of close relationships, but she is friendly with most people she encounters, at least until she finds a reason not to be. She looks for faults a lot, so she can usually find them pretty easily if she wants. She's working on being more positive and trying to make real friends. [break][break]

Anyone who is better at manipulating people than Maddie would be at the top of this list (which, let's be real, girl isn't as skilled at this as she thinks she is - big green eyes and pouty lips get her pretty far though). Maddie is drawn to people who give off an air of power or confidence. Even though she doesn't like anyone telling her what to do, she still finds herself attracted to men who like to take control. She hates that it is her type, but keeps falling for the same kind of guy over and over, and then sabotaging the relationship if it starts to get too serious.[break][break]

She has also always had a crush on her brother's friend, but has never mentioned it to anyone. She feels like it is very cliché, but they were all very close growing up and she still sees him from time to time. She is almost certain that he sees her as a sister though, so she is mortified about him ever finding out. // The secret is out and Maddie and Tomas are on again, off again in complicated relationship. // Maddie and Tomas were on again off again for a while, but it seems pretty clear they are now just off. She is unlikely to be a typically good girlfriend, but she is perpetually available, and not opposed to random hook ups. [break][break]

--I'm sorry, but no: Your gifted character is doing something irritating with their power and Maddie negates it. Maybe they are doing something harmful, or it could even just be mildly annoying and Maddie's having a rough day. [break][break]

--This is why I don't take the elevator: Maddie hates small spaces. Most of the time she'd rather take the stairs, no matter how many floors up she's going. But maybe she's feeling lazy, or maybe your character convinced her it would be alright to go in the elevator this time. But then the power goes out in the building, or the elevator breaks down for some other reason. [break][break]

--Open for recruitment: Maddie's power sensing makes her a convenient pawn, which is why her brother does is best to keep Blackstorm from finding out about her, even though he's already joined the cause. But Maddie has a stubborn streak and doesn't always listen to Mason when he tells her not to talk to anyone about her gifts. Maybe your Blackstorm/Hunter/Sector character finds out about her gifts and wants to recruit her? Or just feel out how easy or hard it would be to do so?

Mason grew up with his parents and his sister, Maddison, moving from apartment to apartment in East End. His parents were both alcoholics, and they didn't do well holding down a steady job and making sure rent was paid. When he was still in school, Mason would take his anger out on people around him. He and his best friend, Tomas, were the class bullies. During high school, something changed in Mason though. He realized he was taking his anger out on all the wrong people. The world wasn't at fault for the problems in his life. So he made some new goals for his life. [break][break]

Mason made it a goal to start helping people instead of being the problem. He made another goal to get out of East End, away from where he grew up. He desperately wanted his life to be different than his parents, and when he started working with the fire department, he realized that his goals were within reach. He thrived in the structured environment, and he never got bored because every day was a new challenge. His gifts were also well suited for the work he chose, and he could anticipate problems and needs before they arose at times. [break][break]

Now Mason lives in the Heights, in a modest house with 3 small bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Since his father's death, he had his mother move in with him so he can keep an eye on her. He helped her go through a rehab program, but he isn't one hundred percent sure if she has stopped drinking, but she at least seems stable now so he's willing to let it be. He also lives with his dog Max, and his mother helps taking care of Max when Mason is at work. [break][break]

Mason was recruited to Blackstorm after Tomas, his best friend, joined the cause. He strongly believes that the gifted should not have to hide, and that the rest of the population should consider themselves lucky that evolution has started to enhance humanity. He doesn't think Gifted are better than non-gifted, but he does think they deserve the same respect as everyone else. He knows that he was a punk when he was younger and used his abilities maliciously, but now he tries to use them to help people. He doesn't want to be seen as a monster, or to have to live in fear forever. He hasn't talked Maddie about Blackstorm, intentionally trying to keep her away from it. He knows that is sister is passionate and would follow him to the ends of the Earth, but he worries what would happen if she became a target, and he wants to keep her safe. [break][break]

This is where the majority of the options are for Mason. There are coworkers that he would probably be decently good friends with. He would be friendly with most of the people who work in other stations or areas of emergency services (law enforcement and dispatch mostly) that he would encounter regularly. He may have met a few people who he keeps in touch with while on the job. He's still friends with Tomas, and they get together regularly. He would also be on good terms with the people he knows from Blackstorm.[break][break]

There are several options here, as well. The obvious being anyone who has a bias against gifted. He also has the people he bullied or fought with growing up, if anyone held a grudge. He's been on contentious terms with some of his sister's exes, and most of his own. There is also the option of anyone who has been around when he's lost control of his anger more recently. Mason is very dense when it comes to romance. He never really sees the signs of someone being interested in him. He generally isn't even thinking about dating, but he has had girlfriends in the past. He is very oblivious, and it doesn't bother him to be single in the slightest. If you're looking for an emotionally unavailable, work-a-holic, oblivious idiot, Mason is your guy.[break][break]

--Work shenanigans: Wait, your character didn't think they were gonna get locked in the bathroom? They thought they could browse Tinder without comments on each person they swipe left or right? Nah. Mason is likely to be involved in pulling pranks, team building activities, and general shenanigans. [break][break]

--What a goofball: Mason is normally serious and intense. But he's got a funny, goofy, awkward side to him that comes out from time to times. Catch him doing a tiktok dance (probably poorly), drawing sponge bob square pants on his friend's car window, wearing cat ears in public because he was dared to (or just cause he thought it would be funny), or just generally doing something silly.

Genie has only been in Los Eurosia for a couple years. She has a hard time making lasting connections with people who she isn't forced to interact with on a regular basis. It doesn't help that she works for a temp agency, so she bounces from business to business, filling in temporary openings. The position has some serious advantages for her, including ease of integrating into different businesses and easily missing work whenever she needs a couple days to recuperate. [break][break]

Genie is also a hunter. She wasn't born into the Guild, but she has been a member for about half of her lifetime now. She was taken by them when she was 13 years old, and they broke her down and shaped her into yet another tool at their disposal. Her father's example made it far too easy to be brainwashed into believing that gifted are inherently more evil than they are worth, with very limited exceptions.[break][break]

--"Foster family": Genie was taken by a Guild member when she was 13, and bounced around a bit for the next 5 years, mostly staying with two or three different families until she was an adult and could get a place of her own. Love them or hate them, she met a lot of people. They aren't all bad. She might have loosely kept in touch with a couple people. [break][break]

--Not all bad: Genie has been taught that Gifted are inherently bad. It was easy to brainwash her, and through the people she's hunted no one has proven the notion wrong yet. Eventually, she's going to meet someone using their gift(s) for good, challenging what she's believed for more than half of her lifetime.

Ethan has a lot to prove. To himself, to his family, and just generally to the world. His father and brother before him are both successful attorneys, and they work primarily with the guild. Ethan was never quite comfortable with the guild, especially not since discovering that he is gifted. He doesn't know too much about the organization, only that they exist and that they attack gifted individuals frequently. He knows that his father has an extreme prejudice against gifted, and he view this group as another extremist hate group. He knows enough to be afraid to openly cross them, but he has no idea the extent of their reach. Occasionally, he ends up defending some of their members in court or keeping them from actually going to court. [break][break]

While his work is aided by his gift of persuasion, Ethan is still a hard worker. He puts in the hours on research and has facts to back him up when he presents a case. He finds this makes it easier when it comes to persuading a jury or judge to do what he wants and either completely exonerate his client or let them off as easily as possible. He is a little more fast and lose when it comes to convincing cops to drop the charges before they get filed, but he uses that as a last resort, only when he doesn't think it'll come back to haunt him. After all, he's just asking a friend for a small favor, right? [break][break]

Outside of work, Ethan is generally pretty friendly, the life of the party, with a side of frat boy vibes. He had private school and elite education, and he thinks that he is right about everything. After all, it's rare he finds someone disagreeable with his opinions. [break][break]

Maybe not to the point of antagonistic, but he wouldn't be trying to be buddy-buddy if he knows you work for the guild. Actual relationships are tricky for Ethan. He loves flirting, and he loves the idea of being in a relationship, but he can never trust that a person actually likes him and isn't just under his persuasion influence. He gets nervous about romantic relationships, concerned that he is unintentionally persuading his partners to go along with what he wants. He's usually good until things start getting more serious, and then he will panic and abruptly end the relationship. [break][break]

Emie is a 22 year old college senior. She lives in an apartment downtown with her 23 year old step brother, Liam, who is just finished college last year. She works part time teaching yoga classes at a local gym, and she throws herself headfirst into life. She is the first person to volunteer to go along when someone wants to do something that's probably stupid. She doesn't think a lot about the consequences, or planning for the future. She thinks life is too short to waste time worrying and planning. [break][break]

She has a large family. Her dad, stepmom, stepbrother, little brother and little sister are all in Los Eurosia. Her stepsister moved to LA recently, but makes frequent trips back. They all get along, and she's close with her dad. Emie's mother and twin brother died in a car accident seven years ago, she was in the car with them. She doesn't talk about them much, and she went through a lot of therapy to get past the accident. Because of this, she isn't fond of thunderstorms, and she doesn't like driving. She does drive, but she's nervous and a terrible driver. If she can convince someone else to take the keys then she does. [break][break]

Emie is gifted, she has accelerated healing. Her mom always wanted it to be kept a secret, so she tries her best not to reveal her gift, but there are times when it's more difficult than others to hide it. If she gets a small paper cut, it'll start healing immediately. The larger the injury, the longer it takes to heal. Broken bones that would take weeks to heal normally only take a matter of days for her. Even with trying to keep her gift under wraps, Emie is still likely to be a little reckless. You want to try parkour? She's your girl, she'll be right there with you. Random DDR competition? Sure, she'll be your partner. Jump off the bridge into the canal? You got it. Keg stand with a very questionable spotter? Absolutely. [break][break]

Emie is super friendly, somewhat of a tomboy, and a bit of a wild child. She will try to be friends with literally anyone who will sit and talk to her. She is into video games, some sports, competitive cheerleading, yoga, playing D&D (though she is the most chaotic person to play with), and horror movies marathons. She'll get dressed up and have a night out partying as quickly as she'll throw on a pair of sweat pants and a t-shirt, and bring the popcorn for a movie night in. She's a supportive and encouraging friend. [break][break]

She'd know some other students, people who she teaches yoga, maybe other people who frequent the gym she works at, neighbors in her downtown apartment, and her stepbrother/roommate Liam's friends. Anything else, feel free to throw it out there! [break][break]

There are very few people who Emie would feel antagonistic toward. She wouldn't really like anyone who she thought was cruel. She doesn't know about hunters, Blackstorm, or the Sector. She'd probably be wary of anyone who discovered her gift, and might avoid them or try to convince them they didn't see what they thought they saw, that she wasn't really hurt that bad to begin with.[break][break]

This girl is a hot mess when it comes to relationships. She gets attached really quickly, bordering on co-dependency. She is currently figuring out what her type is. She is not trying to get into anything committed, but tends to do so anyway. Her relationships so far have all been brief but intense, and usually end with the other person feeling overwhelmed. She knows it's a problem, and she's working on it in therapy.[break][break]

--Teacher, teach me: Maybe your character has been taking yoga classes. Maybe they're excelling and want to ask about more advanced poses, or just not picking it up and looking for pointers. --Save the cheerleader, save the world: Emie still does competitive cheer in college. She's at practice, gets thrown in the air, and, oh no, the spotter doesn't catch her and she falls. She's limping, but insists she's okay. Someone insists she has to go get checked out at the hospital, but she's trying to convince everyone she's fine, it's not as bad as it looked.

Seth grew up in New Haven, CT. She had a magical childhood, two parents who loved her very much (and still do, though she has very limited contact with them now). Her father is a professor of mythology at Yale, and her mother is a botanist. They worry about her, and she misses them, but she knows it's safer if they don’t know exactly where she is. Seth ran away from home when she was 18 with her boyfriend, Jason. Jason taught her about being gifted and how it was risky. She believed him, but she didn’t know how serious it was until the hunters attacked his family. His sister Jenna, who was a friend of Seth’s, went missing. Shortly after that, both of his parents were found deceased in their home. Jason said he had to go before they got him too, and Seth went with him. [break][break]

For two years, they traveled across the US together, stopping at different cities and camping or staying in motels along the way. About a year ago, Jason went missing on the way to Los Eurosia, and Seth was attacked but got away. She continued on, and now she pretty much lives in the national forest, staying in motels when the weather is too bad to stay outdoors. [break][break]

Seth has just about lost any faith that Jason is still alive, but she’s still in Los Eurosia because she doesn’t know where else to go. She wasn’t the one who made the plans, that was Jason. He was everything to her, and she’s lost without him. She spends her days now mostly just hiking through the forest, or going into town to scout around and search for any sign of him. She knows it probably isn’t allowed, but she made a little garden patch in the forest near where she camps and grows fruits and vegetables, and she fishes to get protein in her diet. She isn’t opposed to a little thievery now and then, though if she’s really desperate for cash she can contact her parents and they will wire her money without question. [break][break]

Seth is very standoffish and skittish. She has a hard time trusting people she doesn’t know, and she sees danger around every corner. HOWEVER, if someone is able to get close and she doesn’t feel like they are a threat, she’s vibrant and adventurous. She’d be likely to go for hikes, beach trips, pretty much anything outside. She is very naive about most things, and doesn’t have as much life experience as someone who’s been running from hunters for the past 3 years normally would. She relied a lot on Jason, so now she’s figuring it out for herself. Any ideas, feel free to throw them out there! [break][break]

Number one antagonistic relationship would be with hunters. She’s terrified that she’s being hunted. After her friend Jenna disappeared (presumed killed), Jenna and Jason’s parents murder, and then Jason disappearing (she suspects he’s also dead after a full year), she hates hunters. She is suspicious of anyone who takes an interest in her gift, assuming right off the bat they are a hunter. [break][break]

Right now, she’s (barely) holding out hope that Jason is still out there somewhere. But, with each day, that hope is fading. She doesn’t easily trust, but the right person might, eventually, be able to work their way in. [break][break]

She’d be shy around a human, but if she thought it was an animal looking for food, she’d be likely to offer up some of her fish or whatever she’s eating. [break][break]

--Have you seen this man?: She’s searching for any information or leads about what happened to her long time boyfriend, Jason. He was supposed to be headed to Los Eurosia with her, but he disappeared on the way. Maybe your character has information, or maybe they are bored and just want to string her along and don’t know anything about it.

Bridget grew up in a small(ish) town in Alabama with an older brother and two younger brothers. Her family is a mix of human and Gifted, mostly with gifts in the mental faculty and manipulation areas, her own gifts being telepathy and omni-lingual. When she isn't working, Bridget likes to keep busy. She like hiking and camping, kicking back in dive bar (or occasional honky-tonk), and just enjoying life. Okay, first of all, I know we got hella shit going on. And I'm behind on almost all of it. I've purposely kinda shoved Christian and Gavyn way down low on my priority/muse list. With Maddie, I could see them coming back together, being curious about one another, and just maybe having a low-key hang (where he isn't actively dying lol). Maybe Maddie asks about that bloody night and Dane, in a sort of half-truth, shares that it was a fight with a Hunter (hey, it's not a lie! He just won't mention he was the Hunter!). He could show off his summoning even. Maybe give her some insight into the Hunter world and "what he knows" of the Guild. But also down for other ideas if ya got 'em!

For Genie, I don't have as much of a concrete idea for them. But, if you're interested at all, I think it could be cool for them to have a second interaction. Maybe a botched/sticky assignment that one or the other "comes to the rescue" in? Idk, idk~ Open to anything!

• One could invite the other out to a low-key hang. At a bar or something. Alone or with a small group of shared friends. (Or them trying to go for that feel but, for one reason or another, still struggling with it idk sdjkfhk)

• Alright, this one's a little bit crack-y. But it makes me laugh also scream, cry, and throw up but wahtever. What if Nate got stood up by a Tinder date or smth? And he happens to be texting Luck and bitching about it (b/c maybe they can do that now) and... Luck's just like "well where are ya? I'll show up, we can pretend we don't know each other, what's the person's name -- okay, hey I'm Travis, sorry I'm so late, phew! what do you do for work??" I could see it being intended to be for fun, low-stakes, some laughs but... as always with me, right... it could get a little angsty when they realize that first dates are HARD. For Dane and Maddie, it's so easy since they're neighbors too. Late night boredom or loneliness mixed with nagging, lingering curiosity could absolutely bring her to knock on his door (or fire escpae slider) one night and see if he's up for hanging out or chatting or whatever. She is still very interested in what brought him knocking on her slider that night, out of everyone in the building. Since that night she's learned a bit more about Hunters and shit in general, so any conversation about that would grab her attention easily.

With Genie, getting them back together would be great. I love the idea of one of them going to the other for help when something goes wrong or just for help with a shit assignment.

I'm living for the angst and uncertainty with these two. I've got an ending post started for the apartment thread, and might get to finish it up this weekend. As for where to go next with them, I love ALL those ideas. But to narrow it down, I'd definitely be down to do the Quentin birthday weekend trip, that would be a fun and somewhat light hearted interaction that could get them back on a path to being normal^TM around each other again.

I also really like the idea of them running into each other, unplanned, and being all up in their feels about it but trying to act casual about it, and maybe actually letting go and having a good time despite everything. Maybe a few awkward moments, but just remembering how fun it can be hanging out with each other, without all the stress and pressure about how they are supposed to act around each other now.

Oh man. The date thing is such a great awful wonderful terrible idea for the two of them. I definitely don't see it as their next thread, but this should go on the list of eventual planned threads, for sure. It has so much potential, and it could end in so many ways. One or both of them bolting, them getting overly nostalgic, or just drinking and bitching about how awful dating is now.

I'm happy to do both threads if you are! For camping... what are your imaginings on a starter? Just arriving at the campsite (would they have all rode together, you think)? Been there a minute, already unpacked, and just finished setting up their tents? Or we can just open right in the middle — maybe they've already got floats on the water, speaker on, and they're yelling at Tawny to get on in (she's wearing two life-jackets lmao).

Any particular happenings/shenanigans you've thought about or want to happen? Just to maybe give us some direction? Or we can just wing that fun shit and do whatever comes to mind? For me, I like the idea of at least having it get dark eventually (winding down around a campfire, making s'mores, swapping stories, watching stars, etc.) and setting up the movie!

I had the idea that he and Nate have a friend who let them build like a shed or something similar on their property? Do you want to start right at the beginning with them arriving? Would they all ride together? Take an Uber from Bridget's? Camping -- I think they'd ride together, probably with Luck driving? Especially since Bridget’s car is just as likely to break down on the way there and leave them stranded in the middle of nowhere, and I just don't picture Tawny being the drive out to the forest type. I imagine both Bridget and Luck would have experience setting up tents and things, so it would go mostly smoothly (though I’m also imagining Tawny attempting to “help”, making the whole process harder than it has to be, and getting heavy sighs). I think it’s a good place to start, somewhere in the middle, full relaxing mode engaged. I didn’t have anything specific in mind for them, just the general vibe of kicking back and enjoying nature for a bit. Also, I’m in love with the idea of the three of them sitting around the fire as it’s getting dark, chatting about anything and everything that comes to mind, probably full on burning some marshmallows instead of toasting them, then getting all cozy to watch the movie. I imagine shenanigans will be had during the movie for sure. I’m absolutely game for all that. [break][break]

I can just picture Bridget trying to teach Tawny how to line dance (and doing her best to rope Luck in as well, though she assumes no teaching would be necessary). I’m also imagining some ogling/flirting with strangers, shots, rowdy behavior, and ending up way drunker than planned. Maybe stopping for fast food on the way home (Bridget’s favorite drunk food is Taco Bell so she’d be lobbying for that), then either winding down in her living room OR keeping the party going and turning it into a fully blown whiskey night. She is pulling for them to eventually work their shit out, or at least be able to be friends again without it being awkward. She’d say it’s because the kids are so attached to both of them, but really, she’s attached to both of them and doesn’t want to pick sides, though she would if she had to. Joszef would really just act the same way he always has around both of them (chatty, usually easy to get along with). [break][break]

I love the idea of them having their own cabin, but the kids staying with them instead of Kat and Joszef. Ella would probably want to snuggle up with Charlie all night, and Quentin would keep chattering to Luck and Nate as long as they let him. Nate would be somewhat relieved that they won’t have the awkwardness of being alone together the whole night, but it would also feel a bit bittersweet, watching the kids goof around and interact with them, thinking about how it’s how it should be. I feel like the next morning, Kat and Joszef would make breakfast (something like bacon and eggs over the fire), and the kids would play for a bit. Eventually they’d have a couple other kids/parents join, probably around lunch time, for the bigger party with kids games and stuff. [break][break]

In no particular order, other things I picture happening are: the group of them fishing (mostly catch and release, though Joszef might want to cook a couple fish for dinner), swimming, lots of conversations (light, easy conversations and maybe a couple deeper ones), and maybe the kids chasing Charlie around, probably because he stole one of their toys (likely a stuffed animal of Ella’s).[break][break]

Dane obviously wouldn't care if they let them go. He also wouldn't care if they just killed them. But it could give Genie a chance to show a glimpse of her usual "thinking" about Gifted individuals or for her to struggle with it, if that's an idea you jive with at all. Dane would find it interesting to witness and wanna bring it up again, no matter what they decided to do in the end~

After some more thinking, I'm considering... that both Tawny and Luck drive out there. Bridget could ride with either? They'd probably just follow one another. Luck's got a lot of shit in his truck and Tawny, unable to fully commit to "sleeping on the ground", put down the back seats of her SUV and outfitted it with an air mattress lololol. ("Have fun with the bugs, you heathens~") Though, I think, she could MAYBE be convinced to sleep in a tent by the end of the night. Giving in, just "for the experience". To say that she did it (and so they couldn't give her shit later). MAYBE. If nothing goes even slightly wrong lmao.

I'm also imagining her suggesting a marshmallow fight — both Luck and Bridget, simultaneously screaming "NO!" (b/c she grew up with brothers and he grew up with rowdy & dumbass oft-drunk country boys, I'm sure they've both got a scar or two from stupid shit like Roman Candle fights; found out the "hard consequence" way that, "Yeah, that sounds fun, until you got a flaming ball of piping-hot, skin-melting goo down your shirt!!")

Okay, so if we're both cool with starting "somewhere in the middle", then I think either of us could start? I'm happy to, unless you'd like to. Starting at any point works for me! Camp can already be set up or they could be working on it. Maybe they just finished the task (made harder than it had to be by someone being "helpful") of setting up the tents and now it's time to pull out snacks, beers, and chairs? Or maybe they just finished one tent and Tawny's "banned" from helping as they start the second lmaoooo. Could be halfway through the day, just shooting the shit over a board game or some cards? Trying to talk Tawny up into exploring a bit before it starts getting dark? Down for anything!

RE: Honky-Tonk — Honestly... I think the beginning, with them all coming together at Bridget's apartment (pre-gaming, going over wardrobe, etc.) might be too much fun to pass up. 😆 Unless you'd like to start it, then I could get this one rolling with Tawny and Luck knocking at her door and then barging on in, immediately popping off? They're gonna be a handful from the beginning and I can't wait to explore this trio dynamic lmao. Maybe Luck intended to stay mostly sober and to drive but is convinced very easily that they can Uber instead lolol.

Then maybe we can sort of time-skip them leaving the apartment when the Uber arrives, and just hop into something a little more in the middle? Where they're already settled, half-tipsy, and having fun? Line dancing is definitely a must. Tawny would definitely want to try swing dancing if she saw others doing it and I imagine they'd fail at that miserably but be cackling and having fun like idiots the whole time loool. Once he's got a few drinks in him, I'm sure Luck will be open to being roped into whatever, too. Once drunk, he CAN'T be held responsible for what happens when 'Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy' comes on and y'all CAN'T mention it to him tomorrow sdkjfhsdf

Also loving the idea of their "wind-down" ending up becoming a full-blown whiskey night ksjdhfksdjhf. Luck climbing out of the Uber to get up close and squint at/scour the Taco Bell drive-thru menu for vegetarian options lmao. Terrible living-room karaoke? Possibly an exasperated neighbor asking them to keep it down?

All this sounds perfect, too! Fishing, swimming, cooking, breakfast, all that. Love it. It'd be so light-hearted and "normal", I imagine. Things they've all done before. Are used to getting together and doing every once in a while. Also can't wait for Kat's commentary lmao. Luck would have missed her and the kids a lot and he'd (internally) be on a razor's edge trying (lowkey desperately) to show that "hey yes this works I can still be here yes".

I'm imagining the cabin — though small and an open floor-plan/no actual rooms?? — still having an upstairs/downstairs (kinda like a loft??). Nate in bed with the kids (plus dog probably lmao) while Luck's downstairs on the couch. Luck and Quentin blindly tossing a cornhole beanbag back and forth over the railing at each other. After a particularly good hit, Luck running up the stairs to drag Quentin from the bed to tickle him, all while he's screaming/laughing for Uncle Nate to help him lmao. Just goofy shit like that.

Then... like... if they stayed another night after... maybe the kids aren't there (some of Quentin's friends stayed after the party and they all bunked with Kat & Joszef since their cabin's larger??) and it's kinda like... painfully quiet. They've done mostly good this whole time, co-existing in front of everyone, but now it's like... *puffed cheeks, watching the ceiling, cricket-cricket*. Idk, just an idea! Could be played with, if we wanted to give them a chance to tentatively voice/revisit any thoughts and such that might have cropped up/been struggled with throughout the weekend (or even the much longer time in which they haven't really seen each other). I could see them having had a couple of moments "earlier" but maybe they were always interrupted by someone else and they always put on their "hey, yep! this is fine!" faces.

But also understand if it's not a vibe and we'd rather not go there! Just a thought! All flexible for me, too, if anything tossed up doesn't quite float.

With this one, too — unless you'd like to start it or have other ideas, I could get it going with Luck (+ Charlie) being at the campsite and everyone else rolling up? The kids piling out, Charlie bouncing around with Ella, Quentin running out to Luck as he approaches them, etc.?

I actually really like this idea, especially the option where maybe their target isn’t such a baddie. Maybe they’re just trying to protect their family or something? Or maybe they had a good reason for doing whatever got them on the Guild’s radar? It could be anything, really. [break][break]

Genie has a lot of internalized fear/hate/shame for herself and other Gifted. She struggles when her core belief that they are all corrupt/bad gets challenged. She hasn’t ever met anyone (that she knows of) who has only used their Gifts for good, and believes just having them makes it too easy to do bad things. [break][break]

I would love to do something where this gets explored, and I feel like Dane would be one of the few people she’d actually talk to about any of it.

Camping -- I can’t wait for shenanigans in the woods. Makes sense that they’d take two cars, and in that case I feel like Bridget would probably ride with Tawny to try to keep her excited about camping instead of questioning what they are getting her into. From the beginning to the end of the night, this one is promising to be a ton of fun. Also, I’m giggling because of all the fast food places I can think of, Taco Bell probably has the best vegetarian menu options and it was pure coincidence because it’s also the go-to drunk snack place! This may have been inspired by my real life work bestie telling me how she door dashed Taco Bell when she was drunk then passed out in a towel with a burrito on her chest… [break][break]

We were pretty much imagining the exact same for the cabins, I think. Rustic, open, loft sleeping space, maybe pullout couch downstairs? The bigger cabin probably also has about 4-6 built in bunks downstairs, built for a family with a gaggle of kids or whatever. [break][break]

I can just picture the goofing, Nate laughing at Quentin and Luck, with Ella (curled up with her head resting against Charlie as she pets him) giggling because it’s her brother getting tickled and not her. It would feel so normal, like this was the way it’s supposed to be when they are there with the kids, enjoying the evening all together. [break][break]

Then the next night, in stark contrast, almost silent. It would be a great time for them to work through any feelings the weekend brought up, to touch base with each other and whatnot. I’m feeling all of it. I’m good if you have an idea on a starter for this.

Sam also has a really passive gift, so unless he tells someone no one is really going to know that he has visions (except for people like Maddison, who can sense it >D). However, when he does have visions, he usually acts pretty strange, gets a nose bleed, it's an entire ordeal. I was thinking of throwing Sam at you for your plot idea of her being annoyed at someone's gift, so she negates it. I honestly think Sam would freak out when he comes back from his vision before it ended. He's an introverted guy but I think he would have a pretty intense reaction to someone pulling him out - not necessarily bad, but definitely intense. It could be fun. I'm also open for anything really, so if you have something else in mind I'm all ears. c:

I'm not sure that him having an episode in and of itself would annoy her, but I can definitely work with this. I can see her being in a bad mood (not an uncommon thing for her, especially lately), and she senses him and sees him acting oddly. She'd be very likely to be in the mindset of 'I don't have the time for this BS right now..', and then just negate his ability. She doesn't know what gifts someone has, and she may not realze what his is before she pulls him out of it. The aftermath could absolutely be fun to play out. Especailly since she's only (somewhat) recently really learned about Hunters and secret government agencies that might be keeping an eye on Gifted. She'd be likely to try to keep him quiet, or at least get away from other people before having any kind of discussion about what happened.

I can't help but want to throw these two together. Since you've got his gift labeled as prophet, I can't help it. When I first read his app, I thought about how she'd handle interacting with him. She has a ton ofsome trauma from her stepfather, who was a pastor gifted with precognition and started a cult calling himself a prophet. [break][break]

Soph happens to be a bartender in East End, so I was thinking of throwing her in your current open thread, if you're okay with that.

Oh my goodness, yes please take the thread. I haven't fully fleshed it out yet, and I am still working a lot with Sam's personality and nailing down the complexities to his personality, but he still deals with the aftermath of his trauma with his gift. It's in the same vein as what Sophia dealt with with her step father, only Sam's parents were simply members of the church, and abused Sam and his gift. His entire congregation did. He still thinks people only associate with him because of what he can offer them and reminding himself that he isn't a prophet to spread the gospel. It's a strange aspect of him he doesn't talk about, mainly because it's still painful for him. BUT! That is still something fun we can toy with for the two of them, especially as they grow to know each other.

I also think, should Sam learn of her gift, he will be a little jealous she has something so cool.
