WELCOME TO LOS EUROSIA,
MACON MAGNUS FALCON
"You tell me your sins so I can sharpen my knife"
BASICS
NAME: Macon Magnus Falcon
AGE: 27
BIRTHDATE: June 23rd
PRONOUNS: He/Him
SEXUALITY: Heterosexual(?)
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Single
OCCUPATION: Priest
NEIGHBORHOOD: Westhook
MEMBER GROUP: Hunters
POWERS:Fear Perception
Macon can manifest a person’s worst fear through the power of illusions. What it this illusion takes the form of is not determined by Macon, however. The make and shape of the illusion is determined completely by the person his power is casted upon, the only part of it that Macon has control over is turning it on and off, and even then, sometimes he doesn’t have full control of that. Sometimes these illusions will just appear, anything from a spider skittering over a person’s shoulder, to the shadowy ghost of a person’s father looking down upon them, these brief glimpses will appear to Macon to give him a clue about what brings out the worst of fear from people.
When Macon is actively using his powers, however, things get much worse to a target than a small jump scare. How certain fears manifest will depend completely on the environment, but whatever his target sees will be completely real to them; however, Macon and his target are the only two who will see it. As long as Macon wills it, whatever is terrorizing his target will be viscerally real. If the target thinks they’re getting pinched by scorpions or stung by bees, their body will react as if that is happening, but that does not mean they are actually receiving those inflictions.
There are a few ways to escape this type of entrapment. Firstly, if Macon isn’t conscious, he can’t enforce these illusions onto someone. Similarly, if the target is pulled out of his line of sight, he cannot maintain the illusion, though the target may still feel some residual effects for a short while, depends on how they handle and deal with their fears. Lastly, if the target can simply ignore the illusions, conquer their fears, then the illusions will simply have no effect and dissipate.
As a side note, there is one peculiarity with the functioning of his powers due to his history of being institutionalized. As a sort of trigger, if he smells the scent of lavender, Macon’s powers will shutdown immediately, as a sort of clarity of mind. This is something he will sometimes do purposefully.
THE LOOKS
HEIGHT: 5’7”
WEIGHT: 150 lbs
HAIR COLOR: Brown
EYE COLOR: Blue
FACE CLAIM: Jesse Eisenberg
OVERALL APPEARANCE: Macon is nothing if not well kempt, he is always dressed appropriately no matter the situation he finds himself in. That said, he has three distinguished looks, almost like three different, yet similar, personalities.
In social situations, he keeps himself well dressed, but not overtly, perhaps church dad would be the most eloquent way of putting it. Khakis, button up shirts, shinned up shoes. When found like this, he’s usually socially reserved, signified by his closed posture. It becomes much more magnified in social settings, mostly because he doesn’t know what to do with himself. He might be especially fidgety or panicky in crowded places.
When Macon is at his day job though, he becomes much more confident. There’s just something about wearing his vestments and combing back his hair that puffs out his chest and causes him to exude the blissfulness of the holy spirit. His mannerisms are slow and gentle, always soft and approachable. If he is at all distressed when he’s playing his role as a preacher, then there is something especially wrong with him.
When the night comes, Macon adjusts in kind. Gone go the slacks and fancy footwear for dark athletic wear, the type of clothing better suited for quick movements and the general rough and tumble of the hunt. It doesn’t seem like much on the surface, but he usually wears a layer of Kevlar underneath it all. He’s not the friendly preacher when in the field, at least, not before his target is captured. He’s almost robotic, disassociated from himself. When things are going to plan anyways. The mere second that they aren’t he becomes incredibly flighty.
INSIDE
LIKES: Fishing, bird watching, control, his job, his disciples, fragrant lavender
DISLIKES: Overstimulation, crowded places, unnecessary violence
STRENGTHS: Mild mannered, devoted, forgiving, inviting
WEAKNESSES: Social anxiety, prone to panic, lavender
OVERALL PERSONALITY: If Macon were to be summed up into one word, it would be anxious. Despite the fact that his power revolves around inducing fear into others, most of Macon’s life has been shaped by his own fears and having to quell them in order to live day to day. At a young age, his ability to perceive manifestations of other people’s fears made him quite meekly, the type that would be afraid of their own shadow. Through some mental rehabilitations, he’s managed to keep this part of himself under better control, but better does not mean perfect. Once he loses that feeling of control, he very quickly becomes that scared little boy again.
In his effort of finding ways to cope with his powers, he has turned to Catholicism. Eventually even being made into a figure head of sorts. Because of this, he abides by many of the virtues taught by this sect of Christianity. He believes that everyone is capable of finding redemption, he does not kill unless he is presented with no other option. Additionally, he is quite polite and soft spoken, in most circumstances, though his own social anxiety can make him a bit rude or dismissive if he is put in a position that makes him uneasy.
In terms of after-hours activities, he is generally a hobbyist type of person, though preferably ones that keep him cooped up at home or in the wilderness. Basically, anything that doesn’t involve interacting with other people; fishing, bird watching, doing puzzles, those sorts of things. In terms of social settings, if its not work related, he much prefers smaller gatherings that involve some sort of structure, so, night clubs are out of the question.
Anyone who has attended his masses would find it quite jarring, if not shocking, that Macon is a hunter. And while, yes, Macon is not a violent person by nature, hunting down gifted folk is something that he sees as a necessary evil. His perception of gifted people is that they are given their powers for a specific purpose, if they are not fulfilling that purpose then they are defying their whole reason for creation. An earth bender is perfect for landscaping and the construction industry, someone with telekinesis would be a great asset for first responders. Why do anything else when you were designed for a specific job? Given the nature of Macon’s power, he’s come to the conclusion that he is meant to put fear into people because fear is what convinces people to stay in line with their destiny. You cannot have order without fear.
Given the fact that Macon’s father was also a hunter, it could be assumed that Macon has grown up to have similar ideals. Yes and no. He doesn’t have a high opinion of other hunters, seeing them as baseless killers like his father (unless they have confessed their sins to the church and have worked toward repenting, then he’s a-okay with them). And while he doesn’t enjoy how dirty his job gets, he sees it as a noble act. That said, he isn’t above maiming or killing a gifted person if he thinks they’re monstrous in nature. Additionally, if he’s hunting with his sister, he becomes somewhat subservient to her, meaning that she’ll usually have more say in what happens to their targets than he will. If the target is god fearing enough, he will attempt as best he can to spare them from his sister’s wrath.
BACKGROUND

Magnus Falcon (Father) Deceased
Carmina Falcon (Mother)
Mayvis Falcon (Sister)

HISTORY:
Born in Los Eurosia along with his sister Mayvis, Macon proved to be the more troubled of the twins. While Mayvis didn’t manifest her powers until much later in life, Macon’s were tormenting him ever since he was a toddler. Back then though, the illusionary nature of his powers was only visible to him, meaning that randomly whenever he looked at other people, he would see their greatest fear lurking over their shoulder, and their greatest fears would quickly become his.
All things considered, the thought that Macon might have powers to see illusions that no else could didn’t cross anyone’s mind, so it was initially considered as an early onset form of schizophrenia. As such, Macon was institutionalized at a very young age. While under the care of therapists and nurses, he learnt much about his mind and mental processes, though none of it helped to eliminate the horrific images he would associate with people. They would eventually make a break through with a bit of psychotherapy. As a sort of placebo effect, he was taught that the scent of lavender cleansed the mind, freeing normal people from the thoughts that ailed them. With one whiff, all the horrors that he once saw vanished before his eyes. That was when he was first taught the power of belief.
Before he turned ten, Macon would return home, not necessarily healed, but more capable of dealing with the world. Despite returning to the mental institution for checkups and therapy sessions, Macon still had a bit of trouble readjusting to home life. The institution gave him structure and control, something he never felt at home. When he attended church with his mom though, everything just felt right. He wasn’t scared by the crowds of people attending mass, as they were all there for a reason, for guidance, for better control of their own lives.
Macon would make the church part of his life. After school, he would go to church to aid the nuns in their daily tasks. He was essentially an errand boy. It was during his time at the church that he would eventually discover that he was gifted and not just mentally ill as he had been previously taught. There was an incident where he accidentally summoned Satan before a nun, a situation that terrified them both for sure. Where the nun fainted, Macon utilized the tactics he learned from the mental institution and made the demon king disappear like all the other illusions he had seen in his life. It was somewhat assuring, knowing that he wasn’t the only one who could see these terrors, that he wasn’t crazy, but now that he knew he had gifted abilities there would be new problems.
Macon’s father, Magnus, was a hunter, and he never hid this fact about himself. By the time Macon and his sister were in diapers Magnus had made it known that the only good gifted person was a dead one. If someone had the capacity to do harm, they would without a second thought. Admittedly, Macon didn’t hear nearly as much of this doctrine thanks to being institutionalized, however, this meant that revealing himself to his father wasn’t a safe option. Given the fact that he already felt like the lesser of his twin sister in his father’s eyes, he didn’t want to know how much more of his ire he could incur.
Fortunately, he didn’t have to hide for long. As it turned out, Mayvis shared more than just a birthday with Macon, she was also gifted and Magnus found out about that soon enough. Given the fact that he was surprisingly elated with the news, Macon took this opportunity to come out as well. From there, he received more attention from his father than he ever had previously. He was no longer the weak son with no prospects, now he was a useful recruit to continue the family legacy.
Into Macon’s teens, he would be trained alongside his sister, though she was easily the better student in terms of being molded into a human killing machine. She had always been more headstrong and violent than he ever was. That said, he was more experienced in dealing with and utilizing his powers, but that didn’t mean much to Magnus if it didn’t come with results. Once they were trained though, that’s when the family hunting trips started. Naturally, Macon didn’t enjoy these hunts at first, but as time progressed, it became normalized. This is just what he and his family did. They went out and they killed gifted people, even his hands weren’t clean.
The family witch hunts came to an abrupt halt one night though. The hunter became the hunted. Magnus and his partner were killed by a gifted they were hunting. Mayvis perhaps took it the hardest, but Macon was of two minds about it. It was tragic of course, but his father was a cold-blooded murderer and made no attempts to absolve himself of his sins. Seeing himself as not being far off that same path, Macon would return to his life at the church, not that he ever went away, but he was certainly putting everything he had into it now. It was not surprising that he would very soon be ordained as priest, especially not to anyone that knew him.
As priest, he became the trusted ear of all the community goers, those of the Catholic faith anyways. Considering the anonymity that was allotted to those who wanted to confess their sins, Macon had been given a position in which he could learn a lot about the secret lives of his church goers. While most things he was sworn to secrecy, there was a shocking amount of people who came to admit their gifted nature and the sinful deeds they have committed with them. Unexpectedly, Macon had suddenly become one of the more reliable sources of uncovering gifted people from the ordinary. Instead of selling them out to the nearest hunter though, he would seek these people out himself to ensure they were on the right path.
Nowadays, he enjoys a balance of his priestly and hunting duties. The more agreeable half of the Terror Twins. Not that you would want to be seeing either of them in an alley if you were gifted.
