ESHA CHANDRA MULLUR
ABOUT
Esha was born gifted, but the majority of her powers didn’t manifest until she was six years old, following a fateful incident in which most people would have died. She recovered though, her body now resembling that of a pufferfish, quills and all. It was believed that her father’s religious mantras had caught the attention of the Hindu gods, who healed her and gifted her with a new body. She became a minor celebrity, a religious icon in India.
Wanting to break free from the public eye and live life as a normal, ungifted person, she signed up for a student exchange program that allowed her to visit America for a year. When tensions arose between her and her family, she became estranged from them and her residency in America became extended. Living life on her own terms, she continued on her path of education, pursuing her doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine. While in Los Eurosia, she is working in an apprenticeship at the local hospital. The city is by no means her forever home, she hopes to one day return to her home country and make amends with her parents, but not without making memories. Whether they be good or bad, we shall see…
PLATONIC
Esha is not the type of person to have a hard time making friends, though, English being far from her first language can make that difficult at times. She is a gentle and caring person, as would be expected from a person in the field of medicine, but she is also assertive. She likes to talk about a variety of topics, anything from music to her work, but she’s definitely not all talk. She’s the type of person who does what she says, and if you’re her friend, you’ve got a slot in her schedule.
What you get from Esha is sometimes more of a life coach than a friend. She’s there to support you, so she’ll let you know that what you’re eating isn’t healthy, whether you’re getting enough exercise, and for god’s sake, work on your posture. She’s not out to regiment your life though, she’s also the friend to remind you when’s a good time to let loose, and may or may not force you to come along with her to a bar or club once in a while, you know, when that’s in her schedule.
ANTAGONISTIC
While Esha is generally an easy person to get along with, there’s plenty about her that can rub the wrong way, and vice versa. Some might see her as a bit too ‘holier than thou’ or stuck up and might not want to take her advice, especially when, y’know, she’s not about taking someone else’s advice either. She’s a faithful believer in her religion, thus she is not very tolerant toward people who undermine her beliefs.
And while she believes in karma, and the idea that bad people will have bad things happen to them without her intervention, sometimes she believes that her intervention is necessary and that she is acting out the will of the cosmos. Afterall, she was often believed to be an avatar of sorts, so it is only fitting that she takes action into her own hands. In a non-violent manner of course. Esha is not the type of person to take violence lightly, so will judge people accordingly.
Additionally, Esha can be considered the jealous type. She doesn’t have the best self image, so she’s usually fine with demeaning others for the sake of boosting her own worth. It is not a common thing for Esha to do, mostly just when she’s filled to the brim with self pity.
ROMANTIC
Esha could easily be defined as a hopeless romantic. She’s not over here waiting for her one true man to come along though, she’s on the hunt. While not as fast and loose as she once was, she’s out to look for her perfect man, better yet, someone she could call her fiancé sometime soonish. She’s ready for commitment, and if you’re not, that might present itself with its own complications. You see, she feels that the sooner she has a life partner, the quicker she’ll be able to reconcile her relationship with her parents, meaning that the illustrious bachelor is likely to get pulled into her family drama early on if he’s not careful.
That said, I’m down for whatever approach someone wants to come at Esha with. We could have the first date that doesn’t really go anywhere and then have it be awkward later for other plots/threads. We could go slow burn, you know, someone being interested in Esha and then trying to convince her to take things at a slower pace. Or, fast and loose, though Esha isn’t here for friends with benefits.
PLOT HOOKS
- Even people that know Esha intimately would be hard pressed to imagine that she had any powers, especially other gifted people. It’s a close guarded secret of hers, though, being that she was a minor celebrity in India, there might be some people who would recognize her as ‘that pufferfish girl.’ It would be few and far between, likely exclusive to people from The Sector who have done their research. That said, she does like to swim, so fellow fish people might find her out in the water from time to time, she’ll be wanting you to keep that a secret though.
- Esha has a bit of a mixed history with shapeshifters, especially ones that take on the form of animals. Even when in human form, she doesn’t know if she can trust that the animal instincts have stopped and when they’ll turn feral. It’s a bit of a sore spot for her, so that can be played with depending on what angle is preferred. We can have them be friends and work through that bit of her history, or that could be a point of contention between our characters.
- With the cat and mouse games going on with The Hunters, Black Storm, and Gifted, there’s likely to be some urban warfare going on from time to time, people getting injured and wanting to avoid public hospitals for the sake of secrecy. In which case, I’m all for Esha’s apartment being turned into a temporary hospital for your character. They could be a Hunter being unwittingly healed by a gifted person after an assignment gone wrong, or a Black Storm agent trying to convince her to join their cause. Plenty of directions to take, and could possibly mesh with any of the above plotting hooks.
MACON MAGNUS FALCON
ABOUT
Macon was born with the belief that he was schizophrenic, thus was primarily raised in a mental institute, and when he was deemed healthy enough to return to the real world, he got turned to religion to regain a structured lifestyle. Later in life, he would discover that the illusions he was seeing were projections of other people’s fears and not only could he perceive them, he could subject others to what they fear the most. Once his gifted fearing father caught wind of what he could do, he enlisted him into his war against the gifted folk.
Following the passing of his father, Macon was able to forge his own path forward. He now resides as the local priest, a trusted and devout community leader. He sees gifted folk as servants of God, given divine powers for a specific reason and purpose. If a gifted person is not acting upon that which they are destined to be, then he sees it as his duty to push them back into the light, through fear, his reason for being.
PLATONIC
Macon is not exactly a personable person, in fact, when it comes to his free time he prefers to stay away from other people as much as possible. That’s not to say he isn’t friendly, especially when it comes to interacting with his patrons outside of church hours, it just means that he’s not the type of person to seek others out, and if he is seeking someone out, they’re more likely in the category below than they are someone he is friendly with.
When it comes to meeting new people, if they aren’t a church goer, he cares very little about getting to know them. However, if someone makes themselves present in his life through multiple encounters and genuine interest in being friendly, then he’ll warm up to them over time. And what a person will find in Macon is a guy who can give you good tips on fishing and share a bible quote or two to get you through the day. Macon is not exactly a ride or die type of person, with a very spare few exceptions, but he is very accepting and forgiving for people with big personalities, so long as he doesn’t have any major qualms with unrepented past actions.
ANTAGONISTIC
Right off the top, Macon doesn’t like gifted folk that don’t use their talents they way they were intended to, he especially doesn’t like gifted that choose to repress their powers altogether. He doesn’t outright hate them, they just need to be taught a lesson by subjecting them to their worse fears, possibly threatening their life, and then suggesting how they should be correctly living their lives. Gifted people that use their powers for more sinful reasons though, he has less tolerance for. Other hunters can be granted some amnesty, but that’s a case-by-case basis depending on their tactics and the types of people they target. It is very unlikely for Macon to be hunting alongside anyone who isn’t his sister or someone she chooses to ally with.
Naturally, he is opposed to Blackstorm and their ilk. As far as he’s convinced, gifted people were made to be servants and sees no need for their movement. He may try to convince their agents to see things his way, but otherwise he thinks that they may be better off silenced so they don’t continue to spread their nonsense.
Macon sees atheists as misguided at best, and annoying hatemongers at worst. There’s nothing that could rile up a priest more than someone who thinks their peddling nonsense.
ROMANTIC
Ever since being ordained into priesthood, Macon has sworn to a life of celibacy, thus has no real interest in pursuing a romantic relationship with anyone. Unless of course he finds someone worth trading his holy vestments for, which is highly unlikely to happen. Any woman who has or is prospecting to be Macon’s lover will find someone wholly unaffectionate and lacking of anything more than platonic appreciation. That said, he maintains that he is heterosexual and if he had not chosen the life of a holy man, he would have had the idyllic nuclear family lifestyle.
Macon, however, has had a passing interesting in men since a young age and has since chose not to acknowledge for a multitude of reasons. Even if Mr. right were to come around and convince him to acknowledge this part of himself, his vow to celibacy still comes first.
PLOT HOOKS
- Macon listens to all kinds of confessionals on a day to day basis. Perhaps your character comes to confess something wrong they have done with their gifts, or just wants to vent about life as a gifted person, and Macon hunts your character down to give them a new perspective on life.
- Does your character have a fear that you want to capitalize/exploit for character development? Macon has you covered. He could either be hunting your boy down, or maybe his power just accidentally triggers in public and your character is caught in the crossfire. It happens.
- You want a fishing buddy? I have just the guy for you!
